my girlfriend and i recently decided that when she gets her internet up and running, that we could run around on an RP server doing quests and whatever. she has always wanted to do this and i thought "what the hell, why not".
basically after much deliberation, we decided to play as warrior/priest, me being the priest and she being the warrior. both of us new to the class (i have played a shadow priest into the 20's, thats about it). i suggested we should go prot and disc and have made provisional builds on wowhead to plan this stuff out. but seeing as i know absouletely nothing about disc priests and warriors i thought i should run it by someone who has a clue. since my usual build checker is currently unavailable, you gys will do just nicely, if you would be so kind.

i should point out, that although the builds go upto lvl 80, we probably wont go that far, i just like to rest in the knowledge that my build is pretty solid, if not completely optimal.
feel free to suggest improvements to these builds, or possibly a different combo, such as arms/disc or whatever. on second thought i think that maybe double dps might be more effective, as prot would mitigate so much damage that having a dedicated healer would be a bit overkill, right?
tl;dr could you please check these builds and possibly make suggestions. thanks.

For leveling I would opt for Reflective shield in the disc tree and Spirit Tap and Imp Spirit Tap in the shadow tree. This will give you more survivability and less down time between mob pulls.

ok, but with running with a warrior i hopefully wont be getting hit often, and casting the PW:S on the warrior is a big no-no as he gains no threat, am i right?
also with spirit tap and imp ST, doesnt that only count if you get the killing blow? which i presume the warrior is going to be doing a lot more often than i am.
i may be totally wrong, this is just the reasons i didnt involve them when i made the spec
ive just realised that although i didnt include reflective sheild in the build i did include imp PW:S. how hypocrytical of me to make a point against your suggestion :/

When running instances or raiding this is the build I use.

Disc priests are excellent single target heals. However, they do lack in pushing out sufficient group heals at times. If you feel that your going to be grouped a majority of the time then yes you can do away with the other items I mentioned previously. You may want to reconsider should you venture out and solo.

thank you, that looks fairly promising.
anybody have any advice on the warrior spec? would prot and a healer be a bit OTT for normal leveling? whats the difference between arms and fury? is it all just personal preference?

Instead of prot/disc for leveling Fury/Shadow should be better for leveling.
Tank/Healer combo is only necessary for 5 man quests and instances that you are undergeared for.
Up to level 40+ you can tank and heal instances in your DPS gear just fine.

In the end, the game is so easymode at this point. just spec both classes for putting out as much damage as possible and you will be fine.
You will quickly find that outside of dungeons, there is really no need for a "dedicated" healer and tank. duoing is nice because you can take on stuff a wittle bit earlier than certain classes going solo. Having a healer is nice because it cuts out a lot of downtime.
also, there's no requirement on cleave to be in any stance. Only a melee weapon.
