I'm not insisting that varian is a bad-guy, I'm saying that he thinks too much with the head between his legs, and less with the head above his shoulders.
he lets rage cloud his judgement, however the very (VERY) few times he's actually calmed, he actually acts like a true noble king.
the main problem is that he's rarely calmed, and he really enjoys to put gasoline to the fire so to speak.
I mean really, on the argent tournament, he calls us animals when we're doign ToC5, was that really necesary? did someone insulted him first on that ocation? no, all was peace and quiet, we step in, the fight is about to start, and just like that he provokes the fight like a bully with his smartass remark of "I didn't came here to watch animals tearing at each other's throats".
that is what I dislike about him, his tendency to act like an ass for no aparent reason whatsoever.

he makes a great leader due to his unrelenting love for his people and willingness to defend them and personal expense.
May this....Death God...take you all.

What's interesting is that doesn't happen in the Alliance version. So which event is canon?
Neither, Blizzard didn't think that through heh, after all, on ally side it's garrosh being an idiot.

Thrall did not verbalise that if Yogg-Saron killed everyone, including his own people, he wouldn't care in the slightest..

I have absolutely no proof of what I'm about to say, for wich it can be considered or ignored.
but from a lore point of view, the first half of ToC5 is cannon, for both horde and alliance. let me elaborate.
from a lore POV, alliance steps in, they fight the horde grand champions, varian cheers for them, garrosh acts like a scumbag.
then alliance adventurers take a break, horde adventurers step inside, and they battle the alliance grand champions, varian acts like a prick, garrosh and thrall cheer for the horde adventurers.
once both alliance and horde "adventurers" defeat the grand champion of each faction, they both togheter fight both paletress and eadric.
and once both are defeated, then both fight the black knight.
that's how it's cannon ON LORE, on gameplay they have to fight solo the whole 3 combats.
now, for ToC10/25 I'm not so sure how they can explain that.
is like trying to explain wich side is cannon on the nexus, it was alliance troops that stole the book? or horde troops that stole it?

dude, garrosh is an idiot all the time, I saved his sorry ass on nagrand, redeemed his name in the eyes of the garadar orcs, and made it posible for him and his people to join the horde as honor guards.
and what he says to me is "turn back, and get the hell out noob"
it's worst if you dind't even bothered to do the hero of the mag'har quest, he then says "(sniff) fear, pff, you wont' last long (/spit)"
having this dude as a boss on cataclysm is gonna SUCK =(

by now most leaders know that if either side disapears completely then azeroth is boned rite?
if some disaster of epic magnitude happened, and every single allaince leader, alliance capital, alliance town/soldier/troops/civilians all of the alliance died and got incinerated, boom adios, kafrikatraboooom. then the world woudn't be the paradise garrosh believes.
quite the oposite, with absolutely zero alliance, every major bad-guy would be able to wipe out azeroth, because the horde alone wound't be able to manage it alone.
likewise, if a major disaster happened to the horde, and they all died, every single one of them and all their bases countrys and towns got destroyed, the world wound't be the paradise, filled with flowers and light that varian and justin think.
quite the oposite, if the horde was exterminated, then every major bad-guy would wipe the alliance, and azeroth too.
this is what separates fan-boys from just fans.
I'm an extremist thrall fan, and I don't think a full war with the alliance will solve anything, it would make things worst. god forbid if we actually wipe out the alliance, we would actually dig our own grave, because then when the crap hits the fan, we will be unable to beat it.
some of the varian fans here (such as addams I think) agree that if the horde got exterminated/incarcerated or, as the varian fan-boys love to say it "Disbanded" that woudn't solve anything, it would make things worst, god forbid, if you actually manage to purge us from the face of azeroth, and eliminate every shred of our existance, then when the crap hits the fan, you will all die.
why do you think the cavern of time instance were you rescue thrall and help medivh open the dark portal exist? because both alliance and horde are NEEDED for this world to live.
if the horde or alliance dissapeared all of the sudden, then azeroth would be doomed, this is why the bronze dragons wanted us to help the horde (even if you're alliance) because no-horde=no azeroth.
maybe garrosh and varian should see this.
every major leader knows it (such as velen, liandrin, thrall , jaina, tirion, alextrazsa. and a big ect)

Hmm, some giant tentacle-clad beast of 1000 maws which managed to control the keepers of Ulduar who knew what they were guarding wants revenge.
Old God of Death rampage or take a deep breath and think about things like a leader? What a difficult decision!

I would pay money to see the look on Varian's face when Yogg-Saron did escape had the Kirin Tor and Explorer's League not picked up the ball... :P

And Garrosh's, and Thralls, and Brann's, and Sylvanas', and the Lich Kings, etc.
Are you suggesting that Varian would be the only one surprised? Thrall didn't seem too keen to send troops to Ulduar either. He was at war with the Alliance, and Varian and Garrosh made it quite obvious that they didn't want peace.
Besides... Varian said "May this Death god take you all..." as if Stormwind and him would be entirely invulnerable to ol' Yogg. It's his expression I want to see.
