I have been duped! Forgive my carelessness, oh Monkey-god! I am unworthy of my simian traits!

I classify something as European if it is from the continent of Europe. The only European religions I am aware of is Roman Mythology, Greek Mythology, and Gaullic mysticism.
Edit: And Catholicism... which should not be confused with Christianity.
You forgot Norse mythology, Odin and friends.
I'm sure there are many others. That was just off the top of my head.

so it's not okay to assume athiests believe darwin but it's okay to assume christians believe in creationism?
Since darwin never said anything about God or gods, and atheism is a lack of belief in God or gods, then atheism and darwinism are not mutually exclusive.

Agreed.
(They need to get rid of this stupid 10 char minimum. I don't need to elaborate 'agreed'.)

I thought that the first part of the Bible (Genesis) was metaphorical, showing that God created life in some way, but putting into a more understandable form.
Sort of like all of the parables that Jesus uses to teach in the New Testament.

Most of the Christians I know do not support creationism. I suppose that's because creationism is so "out there" and most of the people I associate with are logical so I just am not around that crowd. Don't ask me "Are you saying creationists are dumb?", because I don't want to go breaking WoWhead rules by insulting people, just read what I said, understand what I am implying, and then move along.

I've pondered this too, if you notice the order of events that god creates the universe in almost matches the order suggested by the big bang theory.
It's simply the most logical order, but I suppose you could attribute it to something other than human intelligence. (the Bible's authors were undeniably intelligent)

By what standards though?
Smart enough to fool billions into belief. ;)

By what standards though? The firmament idea set forth in Genesis is not intelligent by today's standards, but back then, perhaps.
Although there are those that still believe in the idea, such as Kent Hovind.
By the standards of the time it was written, a crude concept by today's standards, but still.

and since christiananity is belief in Jesus being the messiah, christianity and creationism are not mutally exclusive
Except the part where the first chapter of the Bible is the Creation, so how are they not mutually exclusive by the definition of Christianity?
Fair enough I've known Christians who don't believe in the Creation story, but still, it's in the book and cherry-picking parts doesn't seem like it's the intention of the religion.
I'd like to hear Hyperspacerebel's take on this actually.
Creationism: God is the author of the universe and of life.
Evolution: The diversity of life on earth is caused by mutation and natural selection (plus other factors), and can be explain on a completely natural level.
Neither of those two are mutually exclusive. Now, a given creationist might believe the world was created in 144 hours, but that doesn't mean that is a part of creationism proper.
Now by this definition, every Christian
should
be a creationist and may or may not be an
evolutionist
.

i believe Creationism goes deeper than that.
And there are many kinds of creationism.
young earth creationist especially is almost mutually exclusive with evolution.
See what you did there...
Young Earth
Creationist. You're adding baggage on to the core of creationism. Creationism in itself is solely about the origin of the universe and of life. You may believe things in addition to creationism, but that has no effect on the fact of creationism.
