Then the question becomes... tho shalt not murder... what?
And I believe the answer that naturally follows is...thou shall not murder
anything
. Note, it's not kill, it's murder; those are two different concepts.

Then why is it acceptable to murder defenseless animals, and not humans?

Hmmm.... like... cattle? Can I murder cattle? What if I plot in my house to kill my cow. What if, for no particular reason, I have an unceasing desire to murder old Betsy. Then, one day, I go out and shoot her, and she dies. Am I a murderer? Have I broken the 10 commandments.
What about ferns? Can I plot the demise of a fern?

In before HSR's "Murder only means to kill an innocent human (what's a human though?)!"
2+2 = 5 if we change the definition of 5.

It's not okay to murder animals. That's what I'm saying. Hunting just for the sport makes me sick.
Killing them for a need (food, self-defense, etc.) is not murder.

Life is sacred, even animal life and plant life. It should be done for a legitimate reason (as stated above). Of course legally you aren't a murder for killing Betsy, but yes, I believe you are breaking a commandment. It's not as serious as murdering a human, because human life is more sacred than animal life, but it is still a travesty.
Same with plants but to an even lesser extent. To kill something for no reason beyond the pleasure of killing it is wrong.

What about animal euthanasia? Like they did a few years back here in the UK with BSE and cows.
The pinnacle of animal happiness and is sensual, not intellectual. So in their case it is the most merciful thing to kill them. It's different with humans.

Shut up.
Thank you.

Why's that? Are you implying that on a divine level things fall into categories that assign more value than some things than to others? That seems to imply that categories aren't a man-made system.
And most animals don't need to be killed for humans to survive, if that land was dedicated to vegetation there would be much more food and much less death - people just like eating burgers though.

When it says loving your neighbor, does that extend to ALL neighbor life? Like... ferns? Am I commanded by God to love ferns?

burger is cheaper , meat means no protein counting , cattle raising drives profit , and imagine haw many Forrest must be cut down for that,
Not sure what you're getting at.
Could you please rephrase that.

I thought there was some part where you're supposed to love all his creation? Or something... in the new testament...? I don't know I've never actually read the Bible.
