A teenager's who life is centered around rebelling and being different. (I was there once too)
The problem comes when all of a sudden one day that's handed to you on a silver platter. Once there is nothing to fight for, things get depressing.

Not gonna lie, I like the attention/celebration aspect of it, but that's just 'cause I'm an attention *!@#$ :D
However, I hate gifts. Well, receiving them anyways. I don't really like giving them either, but that's just 'cause... Well, ya know when you give the wrong gift, and there's that silence that just *hangs* in the air, and even though they say they like the gift, you both know it was the wrong thing? Yea, that. Other than that, I love giving presents.
Receiving not so much. Told people that I'd make them eat whatever they got me for my birthday. No presents received. Great success! :D
Probably looks pretty off-topic, but just trying to say, everyone thinks of birthdays differently. I mean, yea, lotsa people do the celebration thing, lotsa people go out 'n get smashed drunk, and yea, some people just carry on like it's any other day.
You're not depressed, you just, don't, like birthdays :P

I don't make a big deal out of my birthday either. I don't go as far as to wish it was a normal day, but all I do is go have a drink and good talk with 2-3 of my best friends (which has not been an option, since I am kind of some 10,000 km away from them).

so, it's my birthday today.I won't say age, just that I'm still in High school.
I could really care less, and if anything, I wish it weren't my birthday, I don't like this attention, but most of the people I know forgot it's my birthday anyways. I don't want a cake, a party, or gifts at all, I don't want any attention and I wish it were just like any other day. Has something like this ever happened to you? ie. being completely apathetic about your birthday?

Saying this in the first place shows that you have misplaced feelings that contradict each other. If you weren't seeking some sort of attention you would never have posted it. If you truly didn't care about it, you wouldn't have any feelings at all, positive or negative. Congratulations, you're a teenager. You're not depressed, you're conflicted. You'll make up your mind on these things one day.

Birthdays, actually aren't the day that marks you're one year closer to dying. Its the day that marks the anniversary of the day you were born.
I can understand not celebrating your birthday, I myself don't like having a birthday party of my own(I do however like going to other people's), that's perfectly normal.
But just seeing your birthday as a year closer to your death, makes me think you assume life is just meaningless you see everyday as a day closer to your death.
No offense, but to me that sounds like a crazy person, not a realist.
To the OP:
Happy birthday! If you don't care about anything anymore, I'd say you're depressed - but if you just could care less that it's your birthday and don't want to deal with the people, presents and the whole enchilada, then you're perfectly normal.
