I wonder, would a spec Holy and shadow down to silence in battleground would be viable?
we could be a support to the person killing others by silencing or using mind flay to do some extra damages/slow and still be able to heal the person if he is in need, here what is the spec i tought that might work, it is just a random spec i wanted to use because i like to use spec that people don't usually take and test them.

Here's some explenations:
Surge of Light
:
Has a great mobility and always useful when there are many ennemies, you need to keep moving while escaping the ennemy fire.... has they usually target the healer
Empowered Renew
:
It is good to have the instant heal so it can proc SoL.
Body and Soul
:
Useful to cleanse a poison from a rogue, even if he will put it again a shortwhile after, but you can have time to run away with the 60% speed increase and good in the case of EotS or WsG for the fc and you if you are alone as it doesn't drop the flag.
Veiled Shadows
:
For the times you heal too much or just wanna get a pet for 15 min loose to had some extra damage
Holy Reach
Always good to have some range and you can even reach some rogues before they sap you if you aren't in combat ... even if it is less likely to happen
Unbreakable Will
Well.... 30% less stun, fear, silence .... it is bound to happen to you a lot in a bg... mostly when you can have 2 and more ennemies on you.
Spirit Tap
:
What is a BG witouth honorable kills? that is the reason i didn't take
Holy Concentration
for mana since you get 83% from ST and i don't know if it stacks, but you'll have ST often.
Im thinking of removing 3 points from somewhere to put it in
Improved Inner Fire
since 45% more armor of what little armor we have and 12 charges more is always welcome when we get hit in combat.
this is just small spec but i wish it could be a good idea, I know there was an arena spec of 2v2 disc/mind flay but me it is only for BG grinding and i did not put glyphs in it at the moment, since its an embryo spec.
So what's your idea about this?
edit: Typo and Spirit Tap

Honestly, anything works in Battlegrounds, but you won't be very efficient. You'll lack utility from the lack of Disc talents, healing/damage power due to spreading of talents, and survivability without Pain Suppression (Guardian Angel/Blessed Resilience are not enough, and Dispersion is eh).
The only healing spec with Shadow that was ever viable was deep Disc + Shadow, and that was only up to Mind Flay and during mid-late TBC.

I'm thinking something like this if you want that:
8/42/21
imp Inner fire is awesome, i wouldn't give it up. also you need the added survivability. spell warding > inspiration for pvp tbh.(in my opinion atleast - considering you dont really have that much crit in pvp)
I believe this spec is based around SUPPORT, not healing and not damage, but support, which is what priests are best at imo.
Presence: SoR gives 5% more total spirit
Zerul: Your added survivability comes from SoL (if you use it the right way it's awesome).
SoL procs from all crits, meaning also dotcrits, dot up all enemies > SoL SoL SoL!

And spirit tap will be up much less than SoL by the way. It's only when you get the killing blow, not when something dies around you.

A single Surge of Light doesn't save you from 8k+ crits or a stunlock.
Surge of Light has an internal cooldown.
With 2/2, there's only a 50% chance that it will proc off of a cooldown. So even a crit doesn't guarantee a proc.
Your Surge of Lights will heal for nearly nothing with such spread out talents.
You can't get good gear without raiding (which still lacks resilience) or doing Arenas (which requires, well, an Arena spec).
And how do you use SoL the "right way?" Enlighten me, is there something to it more than just casting Flash Heal on yourself or smiting someone at an opportune bursting time?
Surge of Light is also random and unreliable because it depends on crits, and even then, it only procs off half the time as previously mentioned.
considering you dont really have that much crit in pvp
You said it yourself.
And an Arena smite spec gives a Priest great healing (Penance is... awesome), great survivability (Focused Will + Pain Suppression, yes please!), great utility/support (uncancellable Mass Dispel, Power Infusion for clutch heals or mana burns, and a mana burn that doesn't take an eternity), and great damage (Smite Glyph + Searing Fire = 3k non-crit Smites on resilienced foes).

Well, aforementioned spec doesn't have Guardian Spirit.
Penance is also one of the most complained about spells in PVP because it's just so strong compared to any other single target heal. That, and it's instant. Tricky Priests are especially hard to pummel/kick if they're good enough to juke with just two ticks rather than go through the entire Penance phase when needed. Penance is also cheap, yet has the strength of Greater Heal.
Another thing Holy lacks: Mana. Regen on PVP gear is terrible, and you lack talents like Mental Strength and Rapture. Holy spells are expensive. You will OOM really quick. Even worse, the aforementioned spec also lacks Meditation. But Surge of Light can compensate for the cost, right? Oh wait.
PVP Gear also lacks: Crit. And still, half those crits count as a SoL proc.
And what about if you wear good PVE gear to overcome these two main problems? People target you first, and you'll die stupid quick. Classes burn through paper, even if paper has Guardian Spirit. That amazing 8k renew and 1.5s Greater Heal turn into 4k heals with Wounding Poison. And good luck consistently having 4 or so others nearby for your CoH/ProM to be proccing SoL so much in random Battlegrounds. Dead = no throughput. You can't heal through those stupid quick Conflag crits/stunlock + assistance when you don't have the mitigation. Even if you were able to survive through strong heals alone, you OOM the quickest of all healers (PVP and PVE, I believe).
Considering how most targets are Wounding Poisoned/Mortal Strike'd if they're getting trained, shield is more valuable than many heals when it is available. Absorption isn't affected by such effects.
PVP Holy still works. It just doesn't really have enough shining spots that Disc doesn't have in typical PVP environments for it to be more viable. If you are gonna get hurt, you're going to die (Arena, WSG, AB, SotA, EotS). If you likely aren't going to get targetted (Wintergrasp, AV), you might as well go PVE spec'd and gear'd.
