do NOT sell the disenchanted mats! The GM will require you to give them back in exchange for your item.

At the bottom on your Action bar. you will see a button with a red "?" on it. Click that, and find the button that says "Contact a GM".
As Wanderingfox said

YES. Keep the DE Result Item, in-case the GM asks for it back. It helps to know exactly what the item was. Remember, you will not get any Enchants or Gems, etc, back. Just the item itself.

Yeah, you should be able to just ticket a GM who can give it back. I accidentally vended my shield a few days ago, and had to revert back to my trusty old ilvl 200 badge shield. Mistakes happen, good thing they can be fixed =].
Couldn't you just hit the buyback page and get it back? Granted, it's probably gonna cost you more than you sold it for, but nothing you shouldn't be able to afford!
I'm gonna think after 18 hours the person logged off :P

i believe items only stay in the Buyback tab for 30 minuets or until logout. I have also seen it where you need to go back to the exact same vendor you sold it to. That can be hard being that not everyone remembers what they sold, to whom and where.
