Have some problems with the tool-tip too. Did follow the instructions on the first page step-by-step, everything double checked and looks ok, no error messages or anything. Still, no matter what item I try to link, the link looks like .
Using the default style in phpBB3.0 and phpBB3.02 version, the server using PHP 4.47 Version.
Installed the wowhead-tooltip to clear/new phpBB3 installation. (migrating old phpBB2 once get this done).
Thanks for any kind of help,
Kalath
The script is best suited with PHP 5.x. Most hosts will offer PHP5 upon request, so you may wish to look into that.
Currently, I am working on a website for the script to keep everyone localized and I can control the content. After this is running I am going to setup a testing forum on my personal website so I can resume full development of the script. You can check my progress @
http://wowhead.crackpot.us
.
I have decided that in the newest version support for PHP 4.x will be removed as it is no longer supported by the developers of PHP. Also I am toying around with the idea of adding a new way to send item/quest/spell information to the script for parsing. My general idea is just to be able to do: and the script would see that and then parse it. I am still working with the idea and determining how the script will exactly figure out if you want the quest, spell, or item. Stay tuned!
This way I will be able to duplicate any issues you may have and release fixes as necessary.
So just bare with me, I am working hard on getting things situated.

Is there any way of being able to specify localization for a tooltip ?
I would like to be able to force an EN or FR version, and if no indication of localization within the link, well just refer back to what default locale is set in the « /wowhead/config.php » file.
Ohter thing, I noticed that the information page after you made a reply / new post or logged-in had disappeared… I'm only getting redirected
(with a longer wait time after the last action made)
automatically to the result page, and it's kind of disturbing to see changes in the navigation… so wondering if I'm the only one, and why is that happening ?
Forum based on phpBB3.
Thanks ;)

Me again, noticed another thing that breaks navigation : cross-links from one post to another within the same forum do not work anymore :'(
You get the prompt to log in to be able to view the post…
Okay, seems that I've found what could
(may)
be the problem : PHP Version 4.4.9. Will try to move to PHP v5, but it's not garanteed this can be done…
If you could confirm that those problems do come from the PHP v4 situation, would be great ;)
Thank you !

All problems fixed with the move towards PHP Version 5.2.6, hurray ! :D
So if you could give me a tip on this request, I'll be happy ^^ :

Even if it's not possible :P

I am going to add the ability to specify a language based on an item by item basis, if none is given it will default to what is given in the config file.
I am putting together the website, and then I will setup a test forum to be able to add my ideas, as well as troubleshoot any problems you guys may have.

I was able to get the test forum working with the script installed and so far there have been no issues. I am going to begin working on the new features later today, so if you have any suggestions for the next version let me know now.
By the way, the test forum is for me only, so don't bother asking for access.
I should have the newest version up today/tonight.

Alright, I know I promised a release tonight, but I got caught up in leveling my druid (sitting @ 69 right now), but I have been working hard on some known issues and adding some requested features. So let me catch you up to speed. Now you can specify the language you wish to use for a particular quest/spell/item by adding the lang=(fr|es|en|de) option. For those that don't know fr is French, es is Spanish, en is English, de is German. Adding this option will force the script to use that language for only the one item/quest/spell. If no option is given it will default to the setting you put in config.php.
I also fixed a bug that someone brought to my attention a while ago concerning special characters in an item/quest/spell's name. It seems as though I have fixed this problem, as my script was not properly encoding the characters to their ASCII equivalent.
I will release this version as is for more testing later today after NFL football.
Oh, and finally, I had a change of heart. I figure I'd let you guys in on what I'm working on/testing with the script so I am giving access to the forum, except you cannot make a post, reply to a post, or register an account. But, you can see what I'm currently working on. You can check it out @

Enjoy!

Version 2.2 Released!
Sorry its later than I had said previously stated, but I came down with a sinus infection and didn't feel like getting on my computer. Anyhow, this newest version removes PHP 4.x support. I have also added the option to specify which language you wish to use for a given item/quest/spell by adding the "lang=(en|fr|de|es)" parameter to the BBCode tag. I have updated the SQL table to reflect this, so
YOU MUST RUN create_table.php BEFORE USING THE SCRIPT
. Otherwise you will be getting an SQL error, this only applies if you're using item cache.
So give this thing a test run and let me know how it does!
Enjoy!

One thing ....
Once I edit my functions_content.php with
require_once($phpbb_root_path . '/wowhead/parse.php');
then my Captcha doesn't work anymore.
I will look into it and see what's going on.

I have looked into this issue, but am unable to reproduce the problem on the testing forum. Could you provide a link to the site in question so I can see what's going on.

Version 2.3 Released!
No major functionality changes, just removed config.php and put the config options into wowhead.php. That way the class is truly a stand-alone script. The option to use cache was relocated to parse.php, since the class does not care if you use it or not.
Enjoy!

I followed the directions to the "T", with one minor exception... I changed the values from "
www.wowhead.com
" to "
wotlk.wowhead.com
".
However, if I put a straight up URL in my forum and it works PERFECTLY, pulling that pop up box straight up from the new WOTLK site (so damn sexy). However, when I put the following BBC codes in Heroes' Redemption Faceguard, it just displays plain ole text (QQ):
Item Syntax: {item name} or {item id}
Quest Syntax: {quest name} or {quest id}
Spell Syntax: {spell name} or {quest id}
Nothing happens, nothing pulls up. Of course my "HTML replacement" part is blank because I don't know jack about HTML (actually, I am amazed that I even got a website up & running).
Now I screwed around and put in:
<a href="wow/wowhead_wrapper.php?item={TEXT}" class="wowhead">{TEXT}</a>
Just to see what would happen in the Item HTML replacement option and it DID turn into a link of sorts. So that's my reasoning as to why I think I'm just missing the HTML Replacement code. Of course since I'm really ignorant, I could be completely off.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, there's probably a good chance I can figure it out on my own. Thanks!

This script is not designed to handle the WOTLK site (yet!), I haven't messed with it, so how that site handles scripts may be different. I will add support for WOTLK in the next release. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

You rock Crackpot... I platonically love you!
Question tho, all I technically need is the BBC code scripty things, right? I don't need any HTML code replacement dealio, right?

Yes, all you have to do is follow the installation instructions on the script's site and it will take care of the rest. I will work on the WOTLK portion tomorrow.
