I've got an odd question. My guild is more of an online community, so we have chapters in both WoW and WAR. Is there any way to avoid conflicts between using tooltip mods for both games on our forums?

I have not had a chance to look at the script since 3.0.2 has dropped, work has been crazy lately.
Once I get a chance I will check to make sure everything is working properly.

Also, this morning I received an e-mail from a user who wanted PHP 4.x support once again, and he brought to my attention the fact that someone has made a back-port of SimpleXML, and then took the liberty to write it into the script. So in version 2.5 (coming soon!) I will be restoring PHP 4.x support (again, lol), even though I am not running it and nor should you ;-)
Actually, it's more that I need PHP 4.x support than I want it. :) It does not depend on me, our web hosting solution do not let us the choice... Anyway, I'm glad to see that you'll be restoring PHP 4.x support in the next version.
On my wish list for the future versions, I'll add:
- itemico tag support (previously requested)
- EQdkp 1.4.x integration
Keep up the good work !
PS: by the way, when we will see achievements in every language in wowhead ?
To be perfectly honest, I'm not exactly clear on what itemico does. If you could clarify it a bit, I would be happy to see if I can add it. As for EQdkp integration, I'll have to look into that. And finally, as for your host not using PHP 5.x, get a better host ;-). PHP 4.x is not longer supported by the devs of PHP, so why use it...Anyhow, I will restore PHP4 support this weekend, and change the script over to handle achievements and other WOTLK items, since Wowhead has changed its site over.

As for the itemico tag, a good example has been given just before.
This page
is maybe even more detailed. My goal is to replace completely
itemstats
which is currently used in phpBB with your script. As we have posts with the itemico tag, it would be great if your tooltip script could also support this feature. Well you know legacy... :)
About PHP 4.x, I know and I totally agree with you but things go slowly... :(
That's what my suspicion was as to what it was, but I wasn't sure. I will definitely add it!

Just a quick update, I haven't forgot about the upgrades that I promised. I just hadn't anticipated that adding itemico tags would involve a bit of rearrangement in terms of how the class functions. After that I will tackle the SimpleXML port for all the PHP 4.x users out there.
and btw, bump! ;-)
I hope to have version 2.5 released really soon!
OH and I had another great idea. I am toying around with adding the option to use like {name or id} and it will list out the mats to you, as well as information about the item. I'm not exactly sure how I can pull it off just yet with the current state of the Wowhead class. I am thinking of a plugin type thing.
Anyways, back to work!

Is there a way to make a BBcode for WotLK items? I know you can manually type but I would like to make a BBcode button on phpBB3 so that I don't have to type it, copy and paste it, and make sure it's right for every item. I tried hacking the parse.php but that didn't go so well. Also, is this going to be the permanent method for WotLK items, or is Wowhead going to integrate the WotLK database into the regular item DB?
Anything that was added onto the Live servers when patch 3.0.2 dropped is now located on Wowhead's main site. For example,
Call in the Cavalry
. The only thing that I have found not to have been moved over were the quests, and most likely a few items.
In 2.5 the tags were removed all together. You will have to wait for Wowhead to move things over before you can link stuff still on the WOTLK site.

Okay, the itemico tags are now functioning as intended...took me longer because of work and raiding, so yeah....You can see the itemico tags in action by going
here
But anyhow, I am working on getting the SimpleXML PHP 4.x port implemented and then I will release version 2.5.
After that I will be begin working on an extension to the class (completely optional) that will allow you to do say: silver spellthread and it will display the item in question as well as all of the mats required to make it. It would look something like this:
x 1
x 5
Please keep in mind that this is still in the planning stages, I haven't worked out all of the details. But everything will be linked to its appropriate item on Wowhead, and possibly make use of icons. I'm not sure yet.

Version 2.5 Released
As promised, tags were added in this release, you can also specify the size by using the "size=(small|medium|large)" parameter. Also included in this release is the restoration (again) of PHP 4.x support by using a SimpleXML back port provided by
Ister.org
. All of the WOTLK tags were removed in anticipation of WOTLK's release on the 13th of November. Most of the objects still work, as long as their on the live servers when 3.0.2 was released. The main exception I can find are the quests, but that is a minor sacrifice.
In order to update you must replace parse.php, wowhead.php, wowhead.css (to make the item icons look right), and table_scheme.sql. You must also run create_table.php again in order to properly setup the table for the additions/removals. This will clear your cache.
Thank you, and enjoy!

Oo this is great news ! Can't wait for the 2.5 version ! :)
How do you choose the icon size in your test ?
The craft tag is also a very promising idea, hope you could implement it.
You can choose icon sizes by doing: {id or name}, if you leave out the size parameter it will default to medium.
I'm thinking that craftable item display will be integrated into the main Wowhead class. On a side note, the main Wowhead class now exceeds 1000 lines of code...just a tidbit of knowledge.

I have not installed this yet myself but just taking a look through it, does this not save icons of the items looked up like with itemstats? Just would be nice to have images saved locally and have it pulled from the drive.
Other than that, this script is perfect either way and can't wait to have it up and running next week.
It is unnecessary to save the icons locally, when they are tiny (in terms of size) and can easily be pulled without any problems from Wowhead. Besides, in my experiences with pulling images from a remote server to the local server it causes more headaches than its worth. I have asked Wowhead admins about hot linking icons and they said its not a problem.

Just an FYI, 2.5 generated a bunch of errors when wowhead went offline for maintenance and messed up forum layout.

Random items also appear to have tooltips not be found even though if you click them you go right to the correct wowhead page. For example, Glyph of Revenge, Glyph of Charge... both link the correct item, both fail to generate a tooltip.
