I love how the Horde players (and some Ally) start to rage over Space Goats and Heroism.
Seriously guys, who gives a &*!@?

Says the guy with a space goat as his avatar who spelled "pro" with a 0 instead of an o.

Says the guy with a helmet as his avatar who doesn't appreciate irony.
Incidentally, my avatar is actually an Eredar by the name of Prince Malchezaar.
No, I'll tell you what my problem is: I'm really uninterested in inter-factional conflict. I roll on a non-PvP server and really don't care about, or rage against, the opposite faction.

My avatar is the icon for Lionheart Helm, an item which I actually have, so I've been around way before Prince Malchezaar has and I know very well who he is. Kinda hard to tell from your avatar, though, seeing as how Prince's skin is a shade of greyish blue that could belong to any other Draenei, really. Besides, the Draenei are just uncorrupted Eredar, and the physiology of the two races are still very similar.
Kinda a low blow on my part, so apologies for that, but my thing is, why post if it's irrelevant to you? If you don't care about it, that's great, but there are a lot of people who play this game and appreciate the lore and plot of it, which includes little differences such as the one being discussed in this topic. So, you might not give a damn, and I'll agree that it doesn't affect the gameplay one bit whether it's called Heroism or Bloodlust, but for those who see Warcraft as more than stats and loots, it's certainly something to be discussed.

Heroism and Bloodlust. Each sounds good to me.
I try not to play sides, most of the time.

Then how does one find a balance in 'war'craft?

There is no true Balance, unless you choose a druid heh.

You don't. Kill or be killed.

While I don't feel any particular animosity toward my Horde counterparts, I do appreciate the lore of Warcraft. I am just one of those odd bunch who doesn't feel the need to play a role in the Alliance v. Horde conflict. Particularly when it comes to discussions such as this.
Don't get me wrong, I can enjoy mercilessly ganking a member of the opposing faction if I come across one who is vulnerable (and flagged). But it's just an opportunistic thing... I played EVE before I came to WoW and there was no limit on who you could kill or who could kill you. I enjoy the thrill of the hunt more than I care what faction there person is.

No, but I do enjoy debating who would win in a matchup between an 80s-era Sylvester Stallone vs. Arnold Schwarzenegger :P
Anyways, I can respect that. I've been playing since classic WoW, and back in the day there was a ton of animosity between factions, certainly much more than exists today. When it comes down to it, I'm still an old-fashioned player; world PvP, endless ganking, city raids, they're all things that are second-nature to me, and it's almost impossible for me to play the game without having a sense of faction loyalty. I'm actually very disappointed to see that world PvP is kinda dead these days.
Some people don't like the overall concept of Horde vs. Alliance and would rather just PvE or view their characters and individual beings, and that's cool too. But to me, it's always gonna be faction first (And Bloodlust > Heroism :P)

I can understand that. And really, if WoW's PvP were to be modeled somewhat after EVE's I would get into it more. The great thing about EVE was that PvP had consequences - people were constantly taking over sections of space, then losing the solar system to somebody else; pirates would wait for unsuspecting travelers; roving looters would destroy mining barges... there was a clear, and profitable, reason to engage in PvP. It had to do with personal gain as well as, if not more so, than pride. And greed is a powerful thing.
I dunno, I get why things don't work like that in WoW. It's supposed to be a little more accessible and have less brutal realism. People would cry if they lost all their epics every time they died. Still... I wish there was more reason to hate the Horde other than "because Varian said so."

I think that for a player to lose their items/gold is a bit too much for a game like WoW, but I do agree that PvP needs to feel more rewarding.
This is why I loved the PvP ranks that were in place during classic WoW. If you (and anyone else) is unfamiliar with this system, basically, you were given a rank depending on how much honor you gained that week, and the higher your rank, the more items/armor/weapons you had access to. However, it wasn't just a straight-up "get X amount of honor to achieve the rank of _____", but it was also in relativity to other players on your server, which meant that even if you get X amount of honor, you might not gain a rank that week because many people got
more
honor than you did that week.
In a sense, it was a time sink, and to obtain the top rank (High Warlord/Grand Marshal) meant that you had to play practically all day, and in fact, many players who reached Rank 13/14 took turns playing with friends/companions in order to be able to sleep and rest, because that's literally how much you had to play to get that rank. In that sense, it was stupid. However, it also meant that people who were serious about PvP and gaining ranks were also very competitive. There was somewhat of a special bond between PvPers, and if you ever saw a familiar member of the opposite faction that you've seen in BGs outside, in the actual world, oh man...it was
on.
Anyways, I could go on and on, but seeing how this is a topic about Heroism/Bloodlust, I'll cut the nostalgia PvP talk and save it for another time :P

Actually, i agree with omglaserzpewpew and his EVE vision of PvP, it's a lot more bad ass than WoW's PvP.
Imagine where PvP is a place of cruel and lawless violence. WoW can never be raised to that standard, because there are just too much cry babies who cares about the absolute smallest thing such as this. xD

Bloodlust for the win. It sounds better, and heroism sounds like some lame do-gooder spell that a loladin should have. Bloodlust says "I will rip your face off and suck out your soul."
'nuff said.
