This isn't a question thread, more of a 'wtf are all you other tanks doing' kind of thread.
I keep on reading here that DK tanks are having issues with threat in the beginning of pulls, and I'm wondering why.
I'm mostly 10/25 ToC geared, with a emblem piece here and there, and with proper glyphing and
doing @#$% right
, I generate almost 30k threat on AoE(EVERY mob) and single target pulls within the first 2 seconds. Not even 8k dps can catch that. I myself pull 3k+ dps on single target fights.
Granted, my threat generation over a long stretch varies greatly dependent on RS procs and HB/BB crits, but still...
I'm 3000% in threat over anyone else within seconds... How are all you baddie tanks pulling? I only need to use DnD once, on the initial pull. I never touch it again unless a large pat comes(more than 4).
The only time I EVER lose threat is to the other tank, and I role with smart tanks that back the hell off until it's their turn to taunt.

To be honest I'm in exactly the same situation as OP.
I'm DW Frost spec, geared in 4 piece T9 and average ilevel of just over 232. In heroics I pull about 3k dps on trash and 2.5k on the bosses. For raid, fully buffed its like 3.5k on trash and 3k on bosses.
Drop DnD for basically every pull, HB, BB then spam RS OB FS and HB BB whenever they are up for AoE, pretty much the same for single target except for the BB, throw in a few PS and BS if I get the chance. I more or less never lose aggro unless someone is pulling over ~7k dps.
As for gemming / enchants, not a single one boosts damage in any way except for Fallen Crusader on my MH.

No offense but I'm calling bulldooky. I have mostly better gear than you and I pull up to 7k on trash (on 5+ mob pulls) and only around 2-2.5k on bosses in 10mans. 3-3.5k is just ridiculous for a tank gemming anything but dps increasing stats like strength or crit. Especially at your (and my) gear lvl.
On gimmic fights 3.5k ain't hard. On non gimmic fights like pathwork there's just no way.

And I'd love to know how you are pulling 3k DPS. Unless you are tanking in your DPS spec and have some uber healers, I am calling shenanigens on this.

This post has made my day. I usually do over 3k dps in heroics with AoE pulls... with all my tanking characters. Except for my warrior. Well, but she is lvl 65.
The OP says that a Frost DK tank has great AoE snap threat, and that frost DKs who have trouble should l2p. While i do not blame the OPs tanking powers, since it seems like he definitely can tank haroics succesfully, i doubt the OPs logic powers though. He could have misunderstood a rather large ammount of posts about initial DK threat, and could think that the posts talk about AoE snap, when in fact they were about situations like Domilera descriebed.

I dont ever hit 3k in heroics or raids . . well sometime if I'm getting Tricks a lot with a lot of AoE pulls like CoS . . but in the long run does dps even matter to a tank? No.
making sure that all of the big ugly things attacking you dont go and attack oh lets say your healer? Yes.
doesnt matter what your dps is as a tank in heroics or raids or anything, your a TANK.
Proven fact is that Blood or Frost (dont know anything about unholy tanking) have initial aggro issues, most tanking classes do (if you start dps ing too quick)

Tank with 7k dps on Festergut heroic > tank with 2,5k dps on Festergut heroic.
Provided their survivability is the same.
DPS doesnt matter if we are talking hundreds. It starts to matter if we talk in thousands.
Not wanting more DPS as a tank is bad. Sacrificing survivability for DPS as a tank is bad.

Thror I guess the point I was trying to illustrate with my post was that DPS is something I dont really even pay attention to. Aggro is.
Nor can I see how a tank could even do 7k dps on heroic festergut without sacrificing survivability ( then again my main isnt geared for fester heroic yet so I dont know)

For initial single target agro you can try DnD-DS-ERW-DS then proceed with deceases and standart rotation, also a runic strike most likely will become avaliable early.
(Hysteria is an option, too)

Considering that roughly a month ago, the OP made a thread asking how to reach the defense cap, I'm inclined to believe he or she simply hasn't had the opportunity to run with very well-geared and high-sustainment dps yet.
matt: when you're running with folks that consistently top 8-10k (and are there within seconds), you'll see where our initial threat problems are made fairly obvious. This typically isn't a big deal in 5-man trash, as with those kinds of numbers, things simply die before they have a chance to do much. But in the citadel, when every trash mob is equal to a 5-man heroic boss, there's more than enough time for things to go horribly wrong. Luckily this is being fixed soon(tm).
