This is my druid:
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=The+Sha%27tar&cn=Nandiine&gn=Ad+Interim
The question at hand is:
http://www.wowhead.com/?compare=50009;50783
Meaning:
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50009
or
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50783
?
Im way over haste softcap, and i could be lowering it by using the Boots of Unatural Growth.
As far as i understand, the spellpower and spirit would give me a gain of 37.6sp, + 34 crit, vs 76 haste. My guess is that its worth it, but i want to confirm it.
Edit: I just realised the extra int provided by the BoUG also means 1.32 spellpower, giving me a gain of roughly 38.9 sp.. and a very very small amount of crit.
Otherwise the boots goes to my offspec resto set. :)
(I know im way over hit cap.. Working on that.)

The ilvl264 boots are better than the ones i have currently for resto. But that is not the issue here.

Apparantly i was not clear enough: This is a question of what boots to use for my Moonkin set. Please refrain from anything that has to do with resto itemization.
According to what i calculate (i checked the statweight values in the sticky, but im not sure they are up to date?) the ilvl264 boots gives a value of ~149, vs the ilvl251 coming out at ~133 (counting the values of sp, crit and haste stated in my original post).
Looks to me like the boots with spirit wins, even tho i would usually go for something without spirit..

Alright TheJohan, I'm gonna give you a straight answer. As much as I love my fellow boomkins, they have a horrible habit of coming into a thread about gear choice and instead of answering the question want to give you a 101 on gear. Which if you're like me and I get what I get and I can't throw a fit, means that I don't have wiggle room to shift other pieces around so that you were closer to the softcap and were picking up more crit elsewhere.
The Ilevel 264 boots are better. No spirit isn't "perfectly itemized" for moonkin, but an upgrade is an upgrade and at least you aren't picking up something useless like hit rating after the cap. There is nothing wrong with spirit! No don't gear for it, but don't pass up a piece that's an upgrade just because it has spirit on it.

Install
RatingBuster
. It tells you exactly how a new piece of gear will affect your stats(much like the new Blizzard tooltip, except with RB you can also customize it include gems and enchants in it's comparison. And it also takes into account talents that change your stats).
It's by far the easiest way to see just how much of an upgrade a piece is.

Nibelung is 'fixed' to be equivalent to other staffs in the same iLvL range and the valks are indeed very resilient to any damage that does not outright kill them. The chieftain's staf is strong yes but not as strong as MH/OH choices later on and the MH/OH are a natural progression gearing wise from the Nibelung.
Crit/Haste gear is ideal but you may find that crit/spirit of a significantly higher iLvL are in fact an upgrade for you. The question you need to ask yourself is, is it worthwhile to get that crit/spirit piece or is it better to wait and save any dkp for the better itemized choice and if the wait for the drop is worthwhile to you. Yes that item in front of you right now MAY be an upgrade but is it really the best choice in the long run? I tend to amass a large amount of DKP by waiting for the tru upgrades rather then snapping up anything that is an immediate upgrade.
For the Alliance is is more then worthwhile to snag 4t10.264 and grabbing the legs+gloves. If you team this up with the ring you can easily pop 2 SP/hit gems into a few yellow slots and be set. Unless you plan to build an exactly perfect BiS gearset this is a more then acceptable choice of gear as evidenced by my current gearset. Ideally I can get better gear but I just do not have direct access to it for now and yet I do not feel truly gimped in anyway as a result of my current choices.
In a BiS discussion Plague Scientist's Boots are indeed part of the BiS gear selection for both heroic and non heroic level gear sets. However if you are looking crit/haste 251 boots (from the airship battle if I recall) and the 264 crit/haste boots your best bet will actually be the 251 boots by my last calcs(don't hold me to this though as I'm not posting numbers).
