Stamina = how long you can last
Effective health = how long you can last

Well I'm fine with Stamina, though Toughness might be me more fitting.
Intelligence and Spirit make perfect sense as well to me.
I've always imagined it like this : You need to be really clever to figure out how to manipulate this arcane energy or just " magic" without blowing yourself up or whatever else might happen.
Druids and Priests have their power given to them by the Earth Mother / The Light, so they need to be attuned to the spiritual world, to transcend what other people think of "reality" ( here we just ignore Shamans and Paladins, as this would apply to them as well ) ... though the in the german version I'm playing Spirit is translated as Willenskraft = Willpower , which gives this a bit of a different spin.

When I started playing RPGs, constitution (ADnD rules) or endurance (Might and Magic, Fallout) seemed a well fitting word for the HP stat. I didnt like the word stamina for this purpose - it meant something else.
But I got used to it after the years, and thats the only reason (beside the fact this is a forum discussion) I dont argue here. I would gladly have it changed anytime.
