Why does everyone think high hit is bad? Your special cap is at 8% but white dmg cap is higher. And since you are not sacrificing other stats to get it, then it is ok to have it over 8%
Are you confused, or something?
The only reason to have over 8% hit is because pet hit is rounded down and if you are at 7.99% hit then your pet only recieves 7%
I thought they fixed that. Not 100% sure though.

You sound like someone who plays a melee main. Hunters are vastly different in regards to hit from both melee and casters. Short answer is that 8% hit is for all our damage, special and regular. We also dont need expertise, or any other stat that would fufill the same role.
Pets may only get full % of our hit (not 100% sure on that--they used to only get the rounded hit, but i thought they fixed it) and pets used to need the hunter to spend some talent points for pet expertise (if BM), however that has all been reworked and pets no longer need expertise.

The cap for "white" dmg, (aka, non specials) is higher
Yeah you definitely are confusing this with melee, and DW melee at that. For folks who use one weapon (tanks, 2hand users like DKs, Ret Paladins, Arms Warriors) the hit rating is 8% for ALL attacks. For melee that Dual Wield, it's much higher, but specials remain at 8%. You also have to worry about expertise.
Hunters are much simpler, in that you only need to worry about getting 8% hit. We don't have to worry about expertise as well. 8% hit will ensure ALL your attacks hit.
