I did 25man ICC yesterday with a normal raid setup for my guild.
I moved from struggling at 14-15th in dps, to place 8-10th depending on fight.
Felt nice. Sometimes i was even up there with the top5, but that was only when the hunters/rogues and mage was slacking/dying/getting coffe.

I was critting for 5k in WG before the raid. Very fun to see an opponent riding against you, pop starfall, moonfire, insect swarm, and watch them ride slowly to their death as they try to avoid you.
Que manical evil laughter.

EJ forums had a huge back and forth over glyphs as a result of the Starfall buff.
Consensus has been:
Starfall
Starfire
Moonfire
Focus got the nerf from 20% to 10% damage bonus to prevent us from dropping the MF glyph as well.
AoE spike damage is off the charts and I embarrassed myself by pulling off of a few of our tanks not expecting the buff to be as large as it was(hit 32k dps AoE with 0/2 GW). On a group of 4 mobs tightly packed 1 cast does ~120k damage for me now.
All in all it's a damn nice buff. I feel it was maybe a bit too strong though (don't hate me). I kind of wish they had changed the SP coefficients on our DoTs instead.

With that much damage from starfall, don't be surprised if it gets a nerf to 3-5 targets since the buff was to help boomkin pvp(IMO at least, since that seemed to be the theme the last 2 patches), not increase to insane aoe dps.

I was just about to do this Les! You stole it :D
Before the patch I was super excited to hit 7k dps in a single fight in ICC, last night I was pushing 9k :D It felt awesome to finally be competing for top spot against a similarly geared mage!

Do you really think they would nerf starfall because we do too much damage on trash?

Well, i put out as much dps as possible in icc last night, locks and mages that knows their stuff had no trouble at all out-dpsing me. :)
I also like beeing competitive, and i dont think a nerf is due. You won't see many dpsparses where Moonkins are before the pure classes of equal gear and skill.

Starfall does sooooooooooo much damage now.
Before: yes, we were underpowered.
Now: yes, we are overpowered.
But really:
The Aoe-abilitys has never been moonkins problem. Sure, I do like starfall the way it is now, but to be honest its a bit to much. Give us something to boost the singletarget-nukes we got, like a debuff on typhoon or something (typhoon also causes a debuff on the targets affected, adding 10% to your dmg on the target for 15 secs) so it would be a normal part of our pve rotation (just shooting of my ass here).
Then again, just a thought (because the only dps-speccs I currently play is balance + shadowpriest): Do I think Starfall is OP because im used to playing "not-pure-dps"-classes? Is this the normal amout of damage a mage/warlock etc is normaly doing? I sure would like to keep the dmg.

Did this guy just say my moonkin is overpowered? seriously?

No, I did not, I just think boosting the aoe-spell of a class that allready has great aoe-damage is a bit stupid.

Starfall deals ridiculous single target as well as aoe damage.
For pvp: Aoe is not our problem, staying alive is
Nature's Grasp got buffed, Typhoon costs less mana so you have more to spare on other spells, and Starfall was obcenely buffed which makes killing your opponent easier, dead enemy = 0 incoming damage = staying alive a lot longer. It's not a permenant solution but it does make it harder to kill us.
For pve: Aoe is not our problem, good dps while running is
Starfall can be used while running.
Long story short, Blizz doesn't kid around when they use the term "significantly."

The SFall / IS / Focus combination is still our best in terms of pure DPS (even post-nerf), but it comes at a price: the shortened range on Starfall and the hit debuff. This set-up also makes the rotation easier (since you can safely drop Moonfire and still not have to worry about your idol's up-time), so I really don't think that SF / MF / SFall should be the only option thrown out there.
For anyone who is asked to provide the hit debuff, or is still in Tier 9, there truly isn't a choice. But for those who've lucked into a fair share of ilevel 264 gear, aren't needed for the hit debuff (or raid with another Moonkin who provides it), and can deal with the range issue (the only ICC fight I've had problems with is Blood Princes) then the option is definitely there.
It is kinda silly to debate such a tiny dps increase (~45 dps I think on single-target, more so if Starfall can consistently be used on multiple mobs), but I think it's nice that the glyph discussion is actually a discussion now. :)
As far as nerfing it goes, I really doubt it, this is really the only change they could've made that wouldn't require revamping any skills/talents, wouldn't hinder our scaling with crit or haste any further, and also wouldn't buff Resto in PvP.

I'm a resto Druid and don't even have a balance spec so I'm wondering: Moonkins have huge problems with movement since there is barely anything they can cast on the move, right?
Wouldn't an unglyphed Moonfire be an acceptable instant cast for that? The initial damage isn't great but it's better than nothing and it can be spammed all day long while moving.
Glyphing it removes that possibility.
Is Moonfire (for the direct damage component) on the move just so weak that it doesn't matter to lose out on it? Or is there any other spell to spam while moving?

The focus glyph being nerfed to 10% places the MF/SF/StF glyph combo as the best. Go look at the numbers. The hit debuff should be seen as a bonus from this change not a negative. The only negative is if you are asked to keep it up 100% instead of the ~40% uptime we are looking at now, and this is only a small loss to dps. The numbers have been run proving this. If you see a better rotation/glyph combo then the peeps at EJ would be interested.
