I pay Norton to do everything for me <3
Aye, I had Norton until it expired and started rampaging through my computer like a bull in a china shop.
Never had a problem with Norton. I've been subscriber since 2001.
Good luck getting rid of it if you decide to stop subscribing. My dad stopped subscribing to Norton about two years ago; I spent about a month trying to get all the little pieces uninstalled so his system was stable, and finally decided it would be easier to just back up his personal files and re-image.
I personally stick with Avast; it's very solid. I previously used AVG but for some reason it kept breaking during updates of the virus database, so I switched.
I also regularly run Malwarebytes. While there's no need to have two anti-virus programs, having a good virus scan
and
a good malware scan is a good idea.
One definite suggestion:
Never use McAfee!
McAfee may be an industry standard, but that's more out of tradition than quality. McAfee couldn't catch a virus if it ran naked through the CDC research labs, licking every other lab surface.

I use Avast with Malware Bytes, along with COMODO firewall and PeerGuardian.
Avast works very well with everything, it seems.

2 AVs running together will impact performance and generally there is no need for it.
Here is a good link with comparisons.
