You guys are trying so hard to be the victims here. THIS IS NOT ABOUT YOU. You are victims in a lot of cases, not this one, not in this thread. Just stop it. It's extremely hurtful and you're being selfish.
The man is selfish for sharing how he faced rape, in a discussion about rape? Perhaps, just maybe,
it's time to stop posting.

MyTie: You have not conveyed to me that you have any understanding of what it is to be sexually assaulted. Until you can convey that you actually understand that, you are in absolutely no position make judgments.
EluraE: You aren't going to be able to convince them of anything. I've said what was important to me, and I'm leaving it at that. I think you should do the same, honey. You'll be the better for it, I promise.
I've said my piece.

Removed - I was referring to you crying over how sad it is that a woman can't let you have all the emotions of her being raped. We might be discussing rape, but this is about women, it has been this whole time until you want to be right AND AGAIN MAKE THIS ABOUT MEN BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS ABOUT YOU YOU YOU.
I'm sorry Magician was in prison and feared rape. I fear this everyday too. And rape is never okay in any situation BUT THIS DISCUSSION IS NOT ABOUT PRISON RAPE AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN.Hey now, let's everybody take a deep breath and calm down. Yelling over the internet isn't going to solve anything.(##RESPBREAK##)2060##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

Elura, you have to face the reality, that men experience the same emotions when raped that women do. Fear, dirtiness, violation, helplessness, depression, etc. This isn't JUST a woman issue, and therefore the contributions that men bring to the discussion are helpful.MyTie: You have not conveyed to me that you have any understanding of what it is to be sexually assaulted. Judgments about what exactly? What is it that I shouldn't be able to talk about, and why? Only people who have been sexually assaulted can speak out against sexual assault?

You need to chill out. You are trying to hard to make it seem like you have some special insight. This is the third time in the past few days I've seen you flip out and start name calling somebody. In fact you've done it to me as well.
Saying "your a man, you don't have any place in this conversation" is like somebody saying to you "your a teenager, you know know nothing." It's disrespectful and doesn't advance the conversation.
Flipping out in MyTie like that just makes you look immature.(##RESPBREAK##)2060##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

It's a thread about feminism, and females, and rape was brought up in relation to oppression of women (with newscasters lamenting the fate of the poor football players instead of the rape victim).

I really despise this. That person shouldn't have the job of reporting news anymore. They should be working in women's clinics, or something that gives them some firsthand experience with women that have been raped.

Skree, if we were to remove "religion" from the equation, all we ever do is argue semantics. You and I see the world with the same
principles
, just inverse
morals
. Shame, really.

I have never said he doesn't have a place in the conversation. Yeah I'm flipping out because I camly said "hey this is hard to discuss cause it involves a lot of emotions you don't understand" and I explained it several times, it was not an attack it was just saying hey, this is difficult. And he trolls with his like "r u srs" picture and then starts calling me sexist for saying that experiencing different things make you feel different things?
And don't #$%^ing tell me to chill out and call me immature when you are the guys thinking you're entitled to speak over me when I'M THE ONE WHO HAS BEEN SEXUALLY ASSAULTED and I'm camly saying hey this is hurtful and you're being selfish. I SAID IT CALMLY and he ignored me completely. How am I supposed to not flip out?
You guys seriously are incapable of every even trying to put yourself in another persons shoes, arn't you?
This is why I flipped out in the racism thread too because you keep acting like things arn't a big deal when you have no idea. You have no clue because you don't go through things everyday.
Don't tell me to calm down when you're making me sit through pages of guys that have no idea what it's like to be a woman telling me what to feel and do. Don't even %^&*ing try.
First of all I never said you were immature, I said that name calling people will make you sound immature.
I'm not going to go into a lot of details, but please trust me when I say that I really do understand how you feel. And I also know how it feels to try and get a point across to a group of people about something personal, and not have people get it.
I take this topic very seriously, and I do with racism too. I just think that when you allow a topic to have a taboo that hinders discussion, it gives it power over people, and prevents understanding.
What you need to understand is that there are a lot of angles to this. MyTie has a teenage daughter that is probably going to start giving him ulcers in a few years when she starts going to parties and dating. Magician was in a position where he was constantly worried about being raped. And there are people on this side of the debate that have been sexually assaulted too.
I know that none of us can understand what it's like to be a teenage girl and be in that position, but that doesn't mean there aren't people who have been in similar who can give insight into it.
If its becoming so difficult to read all of this then get up and take a break. Don't let a forum topic upset you so much.

I think one thing we can all probably agree on, is a mutual 1 hour moratorium on posting in this thread. So, let's make it our goal to not post here for at least 1 hour, to let things cool off. If you agree, don't post.

Last I checked, there is no distinction, either morally, or legally with regard to the sex of the offender, or the location of the offense.
RAPE IS RAPE.
BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS ABOUT YOU YOU YOU.
Right back at ya there EluraE.

This
thread
, or at least this portion of this thread is about rape, and its effects. And if you do not think I have a place posting in it, you are flat out
*!@#ing wrong
. I can all but guarantee you I have faced and feared rape as much or more than any other member of this forum, with the possible exception of rankorr. You have not experienced sexual intimidation anything like being in prison, unless you experienced it as a molested child by a family member. In prison, it doesn't stop...ever. Day, night...makes no difference. You are virtually defenseless, no matter how big and bad you are.
Imagine your class at High School...maybe 200-300 people. That's about how many men were in my block. Someone got raped nearly every night. I guarantee you a week did not go by without a rape. Now, imagine that every day or two someone in your class at school was raped. And guess what, they don't get to leave the school. And the rapist doesn't leave either. And your principal doesn't care. In fact, after a student gets raped by 1 person, that is an open invitation to anyone else at the school to take their turn on them.
Deal with that for a year, then come tell me I have no say in this topic.(##RESPBREAK##)2060##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##Edited.

The topic is about how rape affects women, I think the other side if this coin cn be brought up as well. Besides men are still allowed to discuss how it affects women, it's not like atheists are banned from posting in the religion threads. I think we should all take a break and cool down though.

You have no say because it's a topic on rape against women. See the name of the thread?
