what is this?
The preview trailer. No matter what happens, you can bet that it will be awesome and/or kick arse.
Long as it's better then the Wrath one; was semi-bland compared to BC and even Vanilla's.
Wrath was one of my favorites! Although it showed no combat it had some of the most breath-taking graphics I've ever seen (better than Avatar's for sure).
Meh, it wasn't bad, but compared to BC with it's over all feel and the Vanilla introduction, it just didn't match up for me.

True. It didn't exactly show the Death Knights or anything else =P

That wasn't the big thing for me; it was just semi-bland, with Arthas raising a dragon, and the voice over with a standard monologue.... and even then, it was setting up the 'there must always be a Lich King' thing.. and most people know how I feel about that lol.

well, acording to the "behind the scenes" dvd, the reason they made the cinematic of WOLTK focused on arthas was because it was cheaper.
the other ones featured a montage of several unnamed characters battling out, and it was more expensive to desing and animate multiple characters rather than just focus on 1.
that's one of the reasons, the other one was to deepen the introduction of the lich king as a villian in a more "in your face" kinda way.

Heh, if by 'in your face', transformed into a bad 60's cartoon villain, then sure, it worked perfectly.

I think it will depend on what blizzard intends the player/endgameboss relationship to be. with say, vanilla, there was no main character that was the center of quests, henchmen dungeons etc. TBC got a bit more personal with illidan and the story of his allies like kael, vashj and the betrayal of akama along with maiev fighting with the players. Then WOTLK got very personal, with the death knight class interacting with the lich king, various quests and cinematics focussed around the lich king, and the dungeons aswell.
so by all accounts, if the trend continues, we may see the untold past of deathwing when he was but a weeeeeee little welp and was the last to get his share of blitzed humanoid at supper time. but i kinda doubt that previous statement.
