I wouldn't worry much about it. Its just another red-flag that something might be illegal, phishing, or gold-spamming.
Take your statement as an example
What is this I don't even.
That is bad grammar, bad sentence structure.

That is bad grammar, bad sentence structure.
And a complete lak of Punctuation.
At least it's properly Capitalized.
And a complete lak of the letter "C" I guess.

In some situations, yes, people use it as a kind of contraction between 'gold' and 'coins'. Instead of saying "Gold coins" one might say "Golds".
There's probably not many cases where this is the reason for it's usage, but it's on possible explanation.
I imagine a pirate negotiating a price (if for some reason he gave up pirating and decided to become a merchant or stock trader or something).
"Arr, ye wouldn't see me part with it for less than 5 golds and 15 silvers, matey."
It's perfectly reasonable to shorten 'Gold coins' and 'Silver coins' to just 'Golds' and 'Silvers' imo. Not that I do.
