And Rank, all of the Peak is built inside the mountain, same as the other dwarven towns/cities.
well, then I don't get why all the fuss over the initial rumor that shaman dwarves were wildhammer dwarves that came to live in ironforge, a lot of people on this board (I'm not sure, but I think you were among them) said "no true wildhammer would want to live underground, they prefer to live in high elevated places, not underground cities."
the Peak is built inside of a mountain but it's an elevated mountain and the city is built at the top, not at the bottom.
Grim Batol is built at the bottom of the mountain it is located, and the city goes downwards not upwards (is that the right word?) so, at least from my point of view, it makes no sence.
since I said I wasn't entirely sure, I'm willing to admit it's their city ,but it goes against their lore that the wildhammers originaly had an underground town, when the mere tought of being in a cave is horrible for them.I actually said they wouldn't return home to the Ironforge dwarves; I mean, it's required that dwarves live in the mountains, but compare the Peaks or Wildhammer City in Shadowmoon to Ironforge: Both are open to the sky, so that the Gryphons have a place to go and be free, while the homes are underground/in the mountain sides. Don't forget though, the Wildhammer clan weren't Windwarriors during the Three Hammer Wars, that came after they moved north to the Hinterlands and made friends with the High Elves there.
If the Wild Clan does take over the Batol again, they would probably use the upper levels and stay out of the lower. But yeah, even for living in the mountains, if they can't get into open sky, the Wildhammers do get antsy; Falastad showed that in Day of the Dragon while he was under ground.
Edit: For the BG's, those are mainly skirmishes between two major forces fighting for control of the lands there are in; Varian's victory at WSG wasn't enough to win the 'war' but he broke the stalemate for a while, giving the Elves a breather. Probably the same thing for AV and Drek; a lull in the fighting let him leave and travel to Outland to go home.
