I thought they should have done this last year instead of the dual spec...WHY NOT?
They will do this when they do another $25 online collection for their kids retirement.

As a Death Knight who gets so fed up switching to PvP specs that sometimes he just skips it completely and PvP's in his tank spec, yes. All the way.

I would prefer more than three, working in much the same way as bank tabs.

Dual-spec was implemented for the general sake of convenience with the specific goal to increase the number of class roles available to the player base, both individually and collectively. Convenience does not and will never mean "take away the need for anyone to ever respec" which is what some people seem to be offended by that it does not, as if something has been taken away from them.
My current and previous WotLK main (both hybrids with much effort gone into offspecs) is sitting at 59 and 92 respecs respectively and I absolutely do not feel that I need more than one extra spec besides my current active to run around with. If nothing else, glyph prices are already so low I rarely bother making any for myself even though one of my own alts can make all that I will ever need until new ones are introduced, and even then it's just batches of the 2 + 2 glyphs I change between PvE and PvP disc.

From an interview with Tom Chilton:
As far as tri-spec goes, I hope not! From a design perspective, just because I still want to maintain as much integrity as I can regarding how having a spec and choosing what you're going to do is important. Also the UI gets more and more cumbersome and the game gets more complex. Again, from a design standpoint, the game begins to feel like you have three specs, why not just have all the talents? Once you have everything, it stops being about character customization, which is what it was always intended to be.
Wish I'd had that quote handy
