lol, silly tanks. they get hit on the head so much they struggle with simple concepts ^_^

your tanks sucks even moar? ^_^
gotta cut the tanks some slack. it's not easy playing the hero - they're under a lot of pressure, physically and mentally. While a lock is more or less on vacation, dont ya think? ;) ;) ;)
Post by
asakawa
nah not really. we're only messing but the serious point behind it all is that a tank (any of the classes that can) of a similar gear level should be more than capable of producing enough threat to overcome basic AoEing with seed spam. if someone's having threat issues like this it's not just facetiousness to blame the tank.
is another story but i didn't get the impression that's what ganimede meant.

We're gonna AoE trash in cata? I thought we were going back to taking 10 minutes every pull to get the CC down ^_^

lol, indeed. i think de-emphasizing AoE is probably a good thing but i doubt they're killing it completely.
looking forward to finding out though ^_^

There's a mix of AoE and CC. Sometimes you get the pulls with some (often random) setup of mobs with different abillities. (healers, casters, mobs that transform and start spamming AoE after some time... etc) and then there are the pulls with a bunch of little annoying mobs like the mana wyrms in Magister's Terrace or the Imp packs in MC... AoE will probably still be used in raids as well.

Looking at this pic:

There actually looks like there will be at least some aoe trash. Should be nice to have a mix of the two styles rather than everything being either one or the other.

no mastor, de-emphasizing AoE does not mean less groups of mobs. it means you will need to control groups of mobs and take them down in a specific kill order to be successful.

Imp
Felguard
Felguard new moves:
Axe toss: 4 second stun ranged attack 30 second cd
Felstorm: Same as arms warriors bladestorm 45 second cd
Legion strike: Like cleave but also applies a MS effect on the main target 6 second cd
Pursuit: Replace intercept. Charges target (No stun anymore:( )
and gives the felguard a 30% speed increase.
Imp:
Flee: imp returns to its master removing all stun snare and movement impairing effects on the imp 20 second cd
Singe: Removes 1 harmful effect from the target but also deals 178 damage to target 6 second cd
If this goes live i imagine scenes like this:
Thule
casts
Immolate
on lvl 20 newb
lvl 85 lock: TO THE RESCUE
his imp: Singe
lvl 85 lock: oops

I've been pondering over Soul Swap (and Cata Affliction in general) a bit recently and an idea crossed my mind.
Wouldn't it be kind of neat if we had more "control" over Unstable Afflictions dispel damage mechanic? A couple of possible ways this could be used:
-A Soul Burn mechanic that allows you to force UA to dispel, causing its dispel damage.
-A Soul Swap mechanic (maybe coupled with Soul Burn): When you Soul Swap, instead of dealing Soul Swap's damage, you deal UA's dispel damage, maybe increased in some manner by the number of DoTs swapped to encourage swapping of as many DoTs as possible. My idea would be that even though UA's dispel damage is dealth, UA is not actually dispelled, and would be reapplied on Swap's new target.
In PvE, I could see this being very possible and easily balanced. PvP is the one setting that I could l see this being troublesome.
Thoughts?

well, that dispel mechanic is a PvP contrivance basically. it was added to give dispel protection to warlocks. it's already doing its job in PvP and any change will either be a nerf that people get upset about or a buff that needs balancing down.
in PvE it's a complicated idea that gives a bit of direct damage. i'm not sure it adds any fun though and if it were to add any damage, again, it would need balancing.
maybe once we've all got used to soul swap this might be worth returning to but it sounds like a slightly messy concept that doesn't actually achieve a great deal.
in my humblest opinion.

Since then they have removed the damage. ( and yes there were warlocks running around killing lowbies with it in beta)

Affliction
* Bane of Doom now has a 1 min cooldown.
* Unstable Affliction - Only one Unstable Affliction or Immolate per Warlock can be active on any one target.
* Pandemic now also reduces the global cooldown of your Bane and Curse spells by .25/0.5 sec.
* Siphon Life now has a 25/50% chance to heal you for 1% of your total health.
Demonology
* Soulshatter now reduces threat by 90%, up from 50%. Cooldown reduced from 3 min to 2 min.
* Molten Core now has a 5/10/15% chance to proc, up from 4/8/12%. Now procs from Shadow Bolt instead of Corruption.
* Impending Doom no longer procs from Demon Bolt. Now procs from Hand of Gul'dan.
* Demonic Empowerment now instantly heals the Imp for 30% of its total health instead of increasing its spell critical strike chance. No longer increases Felguard's attack speed.
* Mana Feed additional effect - When your summoned demon critically hits with its Basic Attack, you instantly gain 1% total mana.
* Dark Arts now increases the damage done by your Fel Guard's Legion Strike by 5/10/15% instead of increasing the AP bonus of its Demonic Frenzy.
Destruction
* Bane of Havoc - Only one target can have Bane of Havoc at a time, and only one Bane per Warlock can be active on any one target.
* Nether Ward (Tier 4) *New* - Transforms your Shadow Ward into Nether Ward. You must be within Demon Armor or Fel Armor in order for the transformation effect to occur. Absorbs {3551.02+(SpellPower*0.807)} spell damage. Lasts 30 sec. 30 sec cooldown.
* Nether Protection slightly revamped - After being hit with a spell while using Nether Ward, you gain Nether Protection, reducing all damage by that spell school by 15/30% for 8 sec. Nether Protection can only occur once per Nether Ward.
Latest warlock updates from MMO-Champion. Please note it is another "unofficial" build, as it is not live on beta servers and was mined.
Mixed feelings about the Molten Core changes. I thoroughly enjoy my Soul Fire spam post 35%, and this seems to discourage that.

Mana Feed bonus sounds nice :)

affliction - mostly describes stuff we know or is actually
live
SiLi change needs mathing out but guessing it will be a buff at 85 stamina levels and a nerf until then...?
demo, interesting stuff here.
shatter's very nice.
manafeed, is very cool.
DE is a PvP ability, fair enough.
impending doom, no s***, demon bolt doesn't exist ^_^
the MC change... could this leave demo no longer casting corruption? it's only just better than filler damage on live as it is and after the numbers get shaken up, who knows. the proc chance feels a little low still. 12% up to 15% isn't enough given the reduced number of SBs compared to corruption ticks. we'll see.
destro
something we already knew about banes and some PvP stuff...
nether prot becomes a clearly useful PvE filler talent to be taking though which is cool.
oh and the other warlock specific bit is:
Item - Warlock T11 2P Bonus - Reduces the cast time of your Chaos Bolt, Hand of Gul'dan, and Haunt spells by 10%. / Instant
Item - Warlock T11 4P Bonus - Periodic damage from your Immolate and Unstable Affliction spells has a 2% chance to cause your next Fel Flame spell to have a 100% increased critical strike chance. / Instant

Impending Doom: As if we didn't figure out demon bolt was scrapped in favor of HoG months ago xD
Soul Shatter: I dunno bout this one, looks like they are removing some thought that warlocks usually have to put into soul shatter... Whatever.
Molten Core: Changes are iffy. They may as well remove the soulfire aspect from it entirely... I seriously doubt using shadow bolt at all during Decimation will be a DPS increase, even if you happen to get a MC proc. We might even end up dropping corruption from our rotation completely during decimation...
Demonic Empowerment: Its about time. Nobody using an imp would ever go deep enough into demo to get it, and it is kinda an obnoxious/dumb ability on live (macro into spells, forget about it... free DPS increase). I also hate having to remove it from my spam macros for Sindragosa, then put it back on after.
RIP SiLi.
Destro changes: Holy $%^& these are good. Mostly looking at the Nether Ward ability... Man, this is gonna be great for PvP =D
Mana Feed: Right now it looks like a 1% gain regardless of talent points invested... so its still really only worth putting one point into. Not that it matters anyway, demo has so many junk/utility talents that we have to put in just to get to the good stuff...
Tier Bonuses: The 2 piece is sick, the 4 piece is... lame? Fel Flame? Really? Unless it has a loooooonnnggg duration/stacks/we will be moving at all times during a fight it seems pretty useless.
Related, I am absolutely digging the new icons.

Damn, I use SiLi since TBC =/
Now looks that Demonology will be the way to go for my High Warlord title.
