I wouldn't say that there are subgenres within prog, seeing as prog is already a subgenre.
Power Metal is a subgenre, but Melodic Power Metal is a further subgenre.
E: Also, Exo-Politics and City of Delusion by Muse are amazing songs.

Exactly. You've got progrock (like Marillion, Spock's Beard and such), prog metal (like DT and Threshold), prog death metal (like Opeth), ... the list goes on and on. And still some bands within a genre don't get their own subgenre despite being totally different imo (Pain of Salvation comes to mind), but tbh I think they're running out of ideas :D No need for 100 subgenres anyways.
Out of the bands you named, Evergrey is best known to me. But they went full out metal some albums ago, there's very little prog left. Not that I mind so much, still a great band. Echoes of Eternity, Into Eternity and Nevermore ring a bell, but I don't know em that well. I'll have to work on that then :)

The singer's voice. It's so whiny, just... gah. And the first album that I listened to was emo and fairly depressing.
So yeah, I just don't like them very much. New Divide is an ok song though.

Fair enough. Speaking of depressing, i came to think about it today, out of all the metal songs i've heard, there's not one that is actually happy. I suppose it's hard to do with the type of music and all. Yeah New Divide's good, and apparently Youtube agrees. Ishho Ni is a good piece of instrumental music though, might wanna listen to it!

A lot of power metal is... non-depressing.
