Well I don't like it at all.No one needs to know my real name, first or last. All that is going to do is give spamers and phishers more ammo. Also I pay for my kids accounts so what ever they say will have my name on it, so in that it self makes that system worthless.
You not supervising your kids is Blizzard's fault?

Honestly, I don't see the harm. Google my real name. Hell google this alias name. You have my entire life. My entire life has been public for as long as I could remember from the days I started experimental surgery for medical research (I have a terminal illness).
Google my alias or my real name, you'll find out about me, and how I am an amazing person. Then you'd probably have to filter out those sports guys, etc. But, I'm still in the top results.
Oh yeah. Did I mention a movie production studio now uses my name? :O

Then, since I obviously don't play this game, perhaps you could enumerate the steps Blizz takes to ensure minors aren't registering to play WoW?
See for yourself.
So, the answer is "absolutely nothing"?

Terrible idea imo, and this is exactly why I despise Facebook; in-game Real ID is fine, not outside of it.

Hahaha, no.
I won't post on forums anymore.
I play this game and have -character- names for a reason. I want to HIDE my identity.
I used to post on forums every few hours, now I will never.
Gj Blizz.

Had you read my previous post, you would have seen that. But it's a lot easier to troll and argue when we ignore the things we don't have a witty response to, eh?

My skills aren't up to par, apparently. I just created and confirmed a battlenet account with absolutely no information beyond that which I pulled out of my head. So, back to my question: what does Blizzard do to ensure minors aren't entering into a contract that isn't legally binding on them?

You apparently fail at simple reasoning. What I did was take what you said and apply it to exactly the opposite of what you were saying, thus nullifying any logical weight it had.

So, in other words you lied when signing the contract (assuming you were a minor or course), thus nullifying it. Thus no contract was entered into, and Blizzard owes nothing to them, and them nothing to Blizzard.

I have registered Blizzbook.com. I'm squatting. If Blizzard wants it, it's going to cost them a whole pie.

My entire point was that you should examine the wider effect of something, and not just how it affects you. You reversing what I said only proves the exact same point.

Oh, no. I used valid information... there was simply no seeming effort by blizzard to confirm any of it... which leaves my question unanswered.

They don't need to. The minor is the one invalidating the contract, not Blizzard.

Honestly, I don't see the harm.
It may not harm you. It might harm other people. Of course, if any of the people it would harm are your friends or help you out in the game or on the forums, then it harms you if they have to leave.
Sure, my addons are nothing special, but they're pretty much going to be dead now. Maybe other people will quit. Maybe some of them will be people whose addons you used, or who used to post really helpful comments on quests on wowhead, and who won't anymore.
As to the direct harm, try asking people who are female, or who have stalkers already, or who are transgendered, or whose employers think video games are a waste of time and will cut gamers first if there are layoffs.

Oddly enough, you seem to be answering a question I'm not asking.

Your "entire point" was directed at one person and his one view point.

Maybe your question is meaningless.
