I read lot's about aimed shot and it seems like it's going to be our openner while leveling as marks... Currently at lvl 10 the mobs have 180-210 health and my normal shots hit for 40-60
One aimed shot and an auto shot followed right after would 1 shot the mob. Is that how it is in the beat atm?
I recently made a Worgan Hunter in Full BoA's the mobs have around 200 hp and I'd crit for 540 at level 11. I 1-shot even If I don't crit.
My worgen hunter is 45 now, he just moved to a 45+ area without getting any gear from EPL (40-45, quest rewards not implemented yet) and he wears no heirloom gear.. and he can STILL oneshot the mobs in the new area :) :/
I am guessing this is gonna get nerfed sometime ;)
(and hiya, reporting in for beta questions, though I am more of a crazed screenshot uploader atm ^_*)

How do I know I got into the beta? I have 3 e-mails saying I did, and I know there are people trying to phish people's accounts but 2 of the e-mails are the same, and the other one actually looks like a legitimate beta invite. Can someone shed some light on this? I don't want to get into the beta and then miss it because i'm scared to open a link or two.

Don't check your mail for beta keys at all. Ever.
If you've opted in for the beta, you have a chance to get an invite on your battle.net page every time they send out a new wave of them. Go to battle.net, my games, World of Warcraft, manage game and check for Cataclysm beta.

I dunno if this was already answered or not, but wowhead is being really slow lately, and it would take 30+ minutes which I don't have to search through all the pages of this thread. So here's my question:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are they doing with shamans in cataclysm in regards to tanking? I know we are getting a taunt, and we are able to use shields, so are they going to add talents or something to allow use to tank?
I was able to 2man FoS with a disc priest healer and 2man garfrost and ick with the same healer in live, (Both on normal, and unfortunately, we couldn't get tyranus because of the brand, and because I was tanking it was always on my healer.) If we got mitigation talents I think it would be cool.
Edit: Typo.

We're getting a high-threat Rockbiter and the Rockbiter version of Unleash Weapon is a taunt, but they said that's for add tanking and stuff like that, they don't want shammies to actually be able to tank. :-[
Guess we can expect some encounters similar to the High King Maulgar one in Gruul's Lair.

Well at least we can do add tanking...Maybe in the next expansion shammies actually wil be able to tank :D

Hey guys. Just entered the contest to win a Beta key, so hopefully I'll be one of the testers soon. But anyway, I'm gonna ask a question.
About rares: are there any new, cool rares in Azeroth, both in old zones and new ones? And are there any old rares that are getting changed somehow?
I watched and read a bit about the beta, all I know is that Mazz-something in Mulgore is getting kids, Sarltooth from Wetlands becomes a skeleton raptor rare, and Mojo the Twisted in Blasted Lands is getting moved to the back of a new cave there.
But if you have any info about new rares or old, changed ones then that would be swell. Thanks!

Hello beta testers!, I got a question to ask you, these seem simple but i need to know:
1. Will the Farmer Broom obtainable from the Tirisfal Farmhands in Tirisfal Glades still there?
2. Will Onyxia and Nefarion become another pair to murder in a quest or dungeon?
3. In the Alliance version of the Scarlet Cathedral, what is it like? Is it different from the horde quests?

First off, good luck with the contest. :-)
I don't think any rares are being removed - I've seen a lot of old ones... although I heard Strider Clutchmother is gone on beta... (:-/) but I've seen lowbie Tauren hunters with a pet that looks the same.
1. Will the Farmer Broom obtainable from the Tirisfal Farmhands in Tirisfal Glades still there?
Hard to confirm that it drops or not but I've killed a LOT of them now without a drop. Probably still there though since nothing in that area seems to have changed... the rare spawn farmer was there and all.
2. Will Onyxia and Nefarion become another pair to murder in a quest or dungeon?
Nefarian is listed as a boss in the Blackwing Descent raid. (on the achievement) There's also a datamined buff that said something about both Nefarian and Onyxia, so I guess she's part of the encounter as well.
Don't have the time to check out the last one but I'm sure it's on the internet somewhere, or maybe someone else can go look. :-)

I have to ask these questions.
Do you feel the leveling will just be an extension of what we have 1-80 or will it be a massive change to the way exp is done. What I am trying to ask is will the 80-85 be a super slow grind and frustration of mobs with massive hit points?
I have seen a guide to leveling 80-82 and the amount of quest listed was what I would consider it to be, like 78-80 but there was not mention of the time taken to do it.
I keep hearing about forsaken on horde side. Wish there had been a forsaken class :)

It feels a lot faster than the way it is right now since you follow a linear storyline in most (if not all) of the new zones. Feels a bit like when you're doing the DK chain... I don't think it's faster XP-wise though, just better locations for quests and stuff like that.
The mobs that got boosted health and damage are the ones that are 80+, don't worry about that.
As for a new forsaken class; they got hunters. :-)

When I first started levelling my druid it was pretty much a steamroll through Mount Hyjal. If they were alive after more than 5 seconds you were doing something wrong.
Now they have more health, and hit for me. It takes more time yeah, but it's definitely more fun to kill something that try to kill you back, instead of fall over when you look at them the wrong way. The new zones are *really* fun to quest in, so I would never use the word "grind" to get to 85.
The other night I started a 80 premade paladin. I did one full (except an enraged Beauty) Stonecore instance and got ~30% of the xp bar.

There is so much going on with horde what, other then Magni getting stoned *pun intended*, is going on with the political field of the alliance?
There's some fuss going on in Ironforge with Princess Moira coming back to be a spokesperson for the Dark Iron dwarves, the "good" ones that is. One of those good Dark Iron dwarves in IF also turns out to be a Twilight's Hammer on an undercover mission or something like that.
Archbishop Benedict, basically the Holy Light religion's pope, also turns out to be a Twilight's Hammer member.
And for the Night Elves, Malfurion is back in action and Arch-druid Staghelm has been locked up in a barrow den Hyjal and there's a quest to escort him out of there to be moved to another prison. (in Darnassus or something so the Twilight can't get him I assume) I'm not the one to ask for alliance let alone night elf lore but I think he's been imprisoned because he was feeding poisoned Morrowgrain to Malfurion, in a similar fashion to how Magatha Grimtotem used it in Thunderbluff to poison Cairne for him to die in the duel against Garrosh.

that's part of the reason, the book Stormrage covers better why is he imprisoned.
SPOILERS!
turns out that Fandral has been possessed by Xavius all this time, it was Xavius the one doing the nightmare in the emeral dream, and tried to put the whole world in a permanent dream-state.
at the end of the book, Fandral is pretty much catatonic, his mind shattered and gone completely wacko, so he's imprisoned in hyjal.
Still, he IS an arch-druid, and completely crazy, so it's logic that the twilight would try to free and recruit him, wich is why players have to move him out of his current prison.

I've read so so many good things about Cataclysm, but there is one thing that concerns me
What part do the Draenei play in cataclysm? Forsaken with a crazed queen, orcs on a conquering spree, Worgen lose their home, trolls get kicked out, taurens lose their leader, nightelves playing france, goblins ruining all natural life, humans fighting back, dwarves losing their leader, gnomes finally fighting back and bloodelves... Being bloodelves..
Everything seems so lively except the draenei side.. Is Velen playing any important role?

@Vermouth81: Well, the biggest change for most classes are the leveling process, but I'd certainly say all classes get more game-breaking changes than they did in WotLK.
Priests, especially disc ones (but also holy if specced a certain way) will want to use the Smite skill offensively to have 5 stacks of Evangelism up to be able to pop the Archangel buff for +15% healing and some mana reg. Disc's Smite will heal the party member with the lowest health for a respectable ammount as well.
The shaman gets sort of the same deal... for resto, shock spells will give you a buff that decreases mana cost and increases effect of the next spell, and bolts will regenerate your mana.
All healers are getting some things they lacked before too... pallies get some AoE heals that have pretty interesting mechanics and resto shammies get the healing rain and unleash weapons (earthliving).
Should be noted that all healers will have a way harder time with mana than they do at the moment, and this is how you can keep it up. An interesting mechanic that might just be enough for me to roll a priest at release. (or a paladin...)
@MrHoon: Trolls don't get kicked out, that was just a rumor. More trolls than ever in Orgrimmar. :-)
So far no sign of Velen or Nobundu unfortunately, but there are a lot of new Draenei and Broken NPCs in a lot of camps, particularly interesting one is the Earthen Ring broken shaman Erunak who's arguably the most important NPC throughout the Vashj'ir quest chain.
About the Draenei part: They've recently remade The Harborage in Swamp of Sorrows and there's a quest chain there where Velen appears and Nobundu is mentioned briefly too. It ends abruptly though due to a bug.

Are the mob packs in the new instances all so tough that they absolutely require CC, or are there some packs that can be AoE'd / killed like in WotLK?
Any signs or even references of Danath yet?
What kind of achievements there are?
What's the average gold dropped by regular monsters?
Are there yet any easter eggs/pop-culture references (like McGoyver is to MacGyver)?
What's the storyline in cataclysm-Azshara (zone)?
Do the night elves do any kind of counterattack against orcs in Ashenvale which actually succeeds?
What's the deal with the Barov brothers in Scholo?
Is Outland gear still better than the lvl55-58 gear from EK/Kalimdor?
