How about you just don't read those threads?

How about you just don't read those threads?
Sometimes they have clever titles that make you think there's meaningful discussion inside, but it's actually just bait for massive QQ. Some people go very far to disguise their QQ.

You should also add in how to make players read stickies. >_>

Your never going to stop
all
instances of an annoyance on a forum or any other wave of communication, and WoW itself has proven this.
Sure you can, it's called using the Elitist Jerks methodology of punishment and moderation. :P
That said, I think a major step forward would be banning anyone that speaks positively about Gearscore. *shrug*

What does QQ mean ?
Some people say "QQ" looks like crying eyes, but I think the term originated with StarCraft or Warcraft, where you could quickly drop a game by hitting ALT+Q, Q.
So if someone didn't like the way a game was going they would QQ and leave...now, however, they don't leave.

I guess i'm the only one who thinks some QQ threads may actually be helpful. Here's the thing, I've seen players come on here and ask simple questions and get flamed.
For example, "where should I quest at lvl 55?"
Umm its a database, look it up.
To me, its a simple pointless question with a valid response. But is there a better answer? I don't think there is, just a lot of fluff and the "well this is what I did" response.
Now here is an example of a QQ thread:
"My elemental shaman always gets destoyed by rogues, they need a nerf."
rock, scissors, paper noob.
This is a total QQ, or is it? take the response "well this is what I did" and it turns into good advice on how to beat a rogue.
Some QQ may make things better or worse. For example, the QQ about having a tough time getting groups together for dungeons.
I guess I need some solid examples of QQ that doesnt really talk about a possible problem.

I think a big part of the issue here is that people end up in disputes where they have a strong feeling about what's acceptable or right, but other players don't agree, and they want to find out whether they're right or not. (Well, they want to be told they're right, usually, but it amounts to the same thing.)
I think clearer and better-understood community norms would do a lot for this. As long as there's genuine disputes about what's fair or unfair in loot rolls, there will be arguments about it, and people will post on the forums to find out whether their position in the argument was stupid.

The only real way to reduce QQ is for moderators to step up and start deleting/removing/banning QQ threads and posts. I know they are not all obvious, and that takes time to learn how to sift through it all.
Agreed. There's another reason for this: I frequently see people tossing out the phrase, "QQ moar," in regards to threads that
I
don't consider to be QQ, but valid complaints. It would be up to the moderators cleaning the forums to determine what is QQ and what is not, so even if they did take this stance, you'd still have people complaining about QQs (and, you could even wind up seeing people complaining that their thread was marked as QQ and deleted - i.e., they'd QQ about their QQ being
QQed
deleted).

well what would you consider QQ then exactly
the way I see it QQ for wow general atleast would be
a gearscore thread or a general thread in which someone vents with little to no discussion room
a was I in the right or wrong (because usually if wowhead community disagrees person says all of wowhead community ir wrong or your just like them etc)
well those 2 seems to be the most common types
As an example of the "labeled as QQ" threads that I disagree with: Several of the RealID discussions were quickly dismissed as QQ, even though the majority of what was said in them was rational discussion and debate.
Discussing Gearscore often devolves into QQ, but not always; "vent" threads and "was I right or wrong" fall into the same categories.
I frequently see the moderators locking threads, and I must assume that those threads have violated the forum rules, either by becoming seething radioactive flame pits or in some other manner. I would say that I would hesitate to consider the great majority of threads on Wowhead as QQ, because there are quite frequently worthwhile comments.
What seems to lack is monitoring within threads, with moderators pruning out inflammatory comments - but the scope of that sort of project might be too much, even for Wowhead.
