Personally, I think the heavy impact will come with D3 - temporary or not. I know I'll be cutting down on WoW when that comes out, without doubt. How much is another question, but I probably won't quit.

What is the big difference between SC2 and D3 then Gnub?
Besides personally of course, I am not a sci-fi guy so I am leaving SC2 at the shelves but cant wait for D3.

This was a strategic release time for Blizzard.
Many people are getting burned out raiding ICC or have finished it. These people will move to SC2...for awhile until they release Cata in the late fall, early winter...just in time for Christmas.
Its all about keeping people playing.
By the time Cata starts to wear off...6-8 maybe 10 months into 2011....they'll release Diablo 3.
This.
I also believe that the CC release date is pretty much set already (Q4 2010 most likely), but Blizzard won't commucite it until SC2 is fully up and running. Without a CC release date, more WoW players will be tempted to have a (temporary) go at SC2, which is of course exactly what Blizzard wants.

Does someone who enjoys playing a fantasy MMORPG necessarily enjoy playing a scifi RTS only because it was made by the same company?
It happens, but there's of course no universal rule that applies and makes WoW players automatically get SC2. But do factor in that many WoW players are bored right now and waiting on Cata, SC2 could tempt them as a temporary fix.
It's completely anecdotal, but my small guild was decimated last night and I suspect many who just vanished are playing SC2 (typical Tuesday evening we have 10-12 players on, we were 3 last night during prime time).

Remember guys battle.net isn't as stable as we think. Remember last week's maintance where they had an issue with
a uthorication
. Is going to happen again and this time it will be worse.
What is "a uthorication?" lol

Make a definition and I'll give you a cookie!
I won't be playing SC. I still play AoE 3 but I struggle with WC3 and similar RTS. In WC3 I get smashed by the computer on easy mode >.> I like to turtle and gather resources and build large armies.
I will probably have a crack at Diablo though.

haha, I was just playing WC3. Got my ass handed to me the first game on easy. Second one I won nicely.
And well... I've taken a break from WoW, so even if I do get SC2, it won't have an affect on my WoW time. However, once Cataclysm hits and I have both WoW and SC2. I still think that SC2 will be something for me to play between the guild raids. However, both will have to wait til I get a computer capable of running WoW with at least 30fps. Unlike my old laptop, which topped off at 20. (Which I didn't mind)
