oh, didn't think of that... I'd bet that more that half of the votes are people thinking its 'crap' on the ground and thinking not to stand in it.
actually the raid-meaning is quite clear :P
you wound't believe how often pugs fail because people stand where they shound't, like Deathwisper's D&D, Marrowgar's blue fire, the lich king's black puddle, in heroics it would be stuff like Tyranus' nova blast zone (where rimefang shoots)
not paying attention to those details can quickly cause a wipe. :P not for nothing priests are getting a Deathgrip-reverse to pull friends from a dangerous zone xD. is better than waste a heal on someone too stupid to move when the boss uses an AOE.

Voted for the Alterac Swiss one because i think it deserves to be in third place (behind the warrior rage and steamy romance ones), and yet it's currently last.
If anyone could sympathize it's you /pat on back
Much appreciated. As someone else pointed out, this would probably be better if each person got five votes, so that the outcome would express which five poems are considered to be the five best, rather than how it is now, where all you really know is how many people think that any given poem is THE VERY BEST ONE. The current style of voting would be more appropriate if we were just choosing a single one of these ten poems to get a prize.
Of course, yes, you might well say, "QQ more, they're giving away free stuff here, don't complain." And you would be right. Still, though...

2 of the competitors have been removed from the voting—one for reason of miscounted syllables (my fault) and one for reason of being plagiarized. A shame, I rather liked them both...but what can you do?
Did they say whose haikus were removed?

Some better choices, but I don't see how some of them have to do with wow, primarily no funeral's...care to explain it to me?
lol if you dont see how that has to do with wow then you are probably one of the people standing in fire, death and decay, etc. and should listen well to that haiku

Acquire has two syllables
http://www.howmanysyllables.com/words/acquire.html
so Step One: Acquire Wand
1 1 2 1 = 5 so it is correct
Is the site right tho? I mean sound it out aquire- ah-kwi-er
dont get me wrong its still pretty good, but it sure sounds like the line has 6
syllables
but im not the haiku police lol

A lot of people complain about the picks of the staff, I would more complain about the taste of the voters :)
For example, the first one is written in a very poetic way. It is nice to read and it leaves space for interpretation. There are (at least) two possible references to WoW and it is totally up to the reader which one he wants to see in this haiku. All these are signs for a good piece of poetry...
... and it's currently losing ...
Most people don't vote for the best haiku, they vote for the strongest WoW reference. Which in this case is of course the "don't stand in the fire"-haiku, that we all have experienced so many times in the game.
qft
But what can you do in a contest such as this?
Charlie Chaplin lost a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest
even though he was the genuine article. It makes you think that human opinion matters less as Forum Theory sets in.
