yeah the searing pain thing just feels so anomalous to me i can't imagine it's entirely intended by blizz. the fact that early sims show destro WITH searing pain easily on top with 17k while destro without it comes at the bottom of all lock specs with 15+k. not actually a massive variance but when demo is looking at the iSP talent and thinking that it could replace decimation SFs then something's gone wrong.
this is why i haven't included the SP specs and priorities in the original post - aside from mentioning SPs strength.
of course, if it looks like it's staying then i'll have to change things around a bit.

i'll add the hit thing, good idea!
are you confirming lock13's question regarding 17% (446 rating) to cap? it's not changed for 4.0.1 raiding right? if i could get on i could confirm it myself >.<
why would it change on a per-boss basis? from what i understand each tier will have a raised cap but the raid lock should
n't
effect that.
the gear is current wrath BiS sets. i'll add a note and link in the OP.
(edit: fixed a typo)

SP is really best for adds like in PP where there aren't any threat tables. if you use it on a fight like LDW you WILL get aggro meaning the mob will need to die before it reaches you. not impossible with a well organised group but probably not an ideal use of the spell.
just follow the stat weights from the first page.
destro goes:
Hit ► Int ► Haste ► Mastery ► ► Crit
you can't reforge to int so what you want to do is reforge to hit until capped. then reforge anything without haste on it already to haste then anything left reforge any crit to mastery.
badda-bing!
that's exactly how it works. the question often asked is "can i put it on a single target boss and increase my damage on it by 15%" the answer to that is no.
going back to your question though, while this might seem great you have to think about it a little more deeply.
is 15% of the damage you do to adds over the course of the fight actually more than the damage of bane of doom (including ebon imp spawns)?
is it worth putting up doom for a couple of ticks and then swapping to havoc before the adds spawn? this uses a lot of GCDs and halves doom's DPET.
havoc will REALLY shine on fights like twin valks. add fights like LDW, putricide (etc) will need a bit more discussion, theorycraft and in-game experience i think.

@NateTheApe
the build is bad.
the information is anecdotal.
priorities poor.
sorry but this kind of post doesn't help.
edit:
@Foal,
the real priority for SPexecute would be:
CoE
BoH (if applicable)
Improved Soul Fire (maintain the buff)
Soul Fire (if Empowered Imp)
Immolate
Conflagrate
BoD
Shadowflame
Corruption
Chaos Bolt
Searing Pain (<50%)
Incinerate
however, that looks far worse than it will really feel when you're playing.

Forte exorcist
eventHorizon
DoTimer

(my personal favourite is needToKnow which kinda worked in ptr.)

With the release of patch 4.0.1, we have noticed an issue which has resulted in all Warlock pets being renamed. Unfortunately, our support team will not be able to assist with the resetting or renaming of these pets. We apologise for any inconvenience these name changes might cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.
for those who always hated their pet's names, grats.
for those who've grown to love their pet's names and have had the same ones for over 5 years now... /cry

omg I'm SO gonna log my lock before my main to see if Shaatom is still Shaatom ... :/
Anywho, I'm a tad confused why there's still SP in the stat weights, since we only get that from int iirc. If it stands for spirit ... well then it makes even less sense since that's a healer stat now.

it is spellpower.
the example of SP still in the game that springs to my mind is on weapons.
weapons need to have large amounts of spellpower on them because they're supposed to give you a stronger offence as a caster just as a good dagger does for a rogue. if this spellpower were provided via Int we'd have massive mana pools.
there may be other examples but this is why it's still included.

Oh I see, I must have missed that (then again, I haven't been checking caster weapons tbh). Cheers :)

There is a viable drain life and shadow bolt spec, however the drain life spec is effectively worse in all scenarios and will put you through a lot more trouble when it comes to shadow embrace. If you love the play style, go for it- but it's recommended you use shadow bolt instead of drain life.
I love the play style but what means "effectively worse"? If I get in more trouble to use drain life but do same dps and help my raid with imp shadowbolt then I will use it. If it falls back on dps then I wont. Anyone tested it wet? My realm is still down :(

it underperforms but only very slightly and high mastery levels reduce the shortfall. it is HARD to get that DPS though due to teh nature of channelled spells and the added difficulties of maintaining ISB and SE. you would have to REALLY like it to still want to do it imho.
