Hi, rolled a paladin belf and am currently lvl 33 and mainly leveled it after lvl 15 as a tank doing DF instances. Well am getting a bit bored so was thinking of later options for the leveling process. Have access to heirlooms from my other chars (currently got the plate shoulders, plate chest and sword for tanking, and the 2h axe for dpsing if there's another willing tank in the group, but have the mail chest and shoulders in reserve if i wanna do some healing later + the healing mace). So was thinking that after lvl 40 i'll dualspec and was thinking of trying prot/retri untill lvl 58 when i'll get to outland and respec to retri/holy and will start grinding quests through outland and northrend doing some dungeons for some healing practice (my goal is to make a holy paladin with maybe a retri pvp or pve offspec).
So. How does this plan sound? never healed with a pala before so that's why thinking of doing lvl 58-80 dungeons as a healer to get some practice. Your thoughts and also let me know your experiences from leveling wether it is from vanilla/tbc time when heirlooms or dungeonfinders didn't exist yet. Interested to hear your leveling stories.
Cheers!
(oh and my pala is named Gintonic because don't like the usuall style pala names around ^^

The way i did it...
1-20: RaF levels.
20-58: Instance grinding, 2h axe ret tanking all the way to 40, your BoA gear can hold it, now only if your retarded healer won't whine about you tanking in a 2h axe...
59-80: Questing.
This is the fastest way to level a pally, as exp is buffed alot during the lower levels but as you start outland, the exp gain is nerfed and leveling by questing is a lot faster (this will be plainly obvious as you start Northrend as the grinding to level really takes a while, i'd only suggest you do a random a day to get the EoT) . Plus, you're a pally, you can solo EVERYTHING okay?
(Note: Soloing some hard elites may require you to be in prot spec with up to date prot gear.)

I AoE ground (or would it be grinded?) as a prot pally (well before svirve wrote his guide =P) from ~30 onwards. Was a lot of fun.

I levelled my first paladin in vanilla as some incarnation of prot/holy (consecration in holy, what?), my second one (during BC) as lolret, and my third and current one halfway through BC somewhat as lolret and the rest of the way as prot.

I levelled mine as prot from the beginning. Sword&Board all the way.
It was really quick as you could pull rediculous amounts of mobs and still end up with full health/mana. Pretty much 0 downtime

I leveled my first pally as ret to 80 and the second as prot in randoms.
level as the spec you wish to play as at 80.
nothing is worse than getting in a group with someone that leveled as ret, but respeced prot or holy at 80 and has no clue what to do.
PvP also helps to learn the class as you level because you have to move alot.

Level ret with grey gear till 30 useing mostly the LFD tool and out dpsing people and talking down to them, then have your buddy grant you 30 levels and buy you black smith made stuff that you think looks cool and will refuse to change till you get them spikey shoulders in northrend.
Or... just level prot with a healer friend and do instances without stoping, thats always fun
