Then again, apparantly moonkin aren't supposed to have nice things, so I guess it fits Blizzard's modus operandi when it comes to balance druids; tantalize with fun toys on beta, then take them all away before patch goes live. :(
Sounds like their approach to Pallies, lol.
dont they usually let pallies at least their OP toys on live before nerfing them?
In my experience Pallies get to be OP at the beginning of each expansion and then get continually beaten back until Blizz finally takes pity in the final major patch of the expansion and brings them back to "viable". :P

Entangling Roots right now on PTR seems like it's got permanent 1 point of Overgrowth built into it. It multi-roots about half the time from what I can see; I didn't do enough tests to get anything even resembling a statistically accurate sample, but from my experience it seems a reasonable enough assumption it's 50%.
It also has the 5 second cooldown associated with Overgrowth, but neither of these changes are mentioned in the skill tooltip, making me believe the skill is simply borked at the moment.
I will take some time to play around with it. I've been focused on the PvE aspects of the changes almost exclusively outside of minor speculation over the changes to the PvP side of things.
I'm not sure if the patch will land tonight/tomorrow or not but things still feel a bit wonky for a patch release in my opinion.
Edit: Really don't think the PTR is going to be landing this tuesday... Eclipse is currently 0% + 1.5% per point of mastery. This really causes Mastery to swing up in terms power... and very obviously not going to go live like that...

is mana that little of an issue that you dont need any points in Moonglow? Also, if you are glyphing for thorns, shouldnt it be cast atleast at the start of every solar phase given that it deals nature damage? possibly the same for treants? is solar beam really not worth a point over gale winds or is aoe going to be more important? And finally, wouldnt GoSF be stronger than GoMF given that it is essentially a 50% damage boost half the time as opposed to a 20% boost all the time?
I can do 5 million damage on the Heroic dummy on the PTR with current gear before going oom. This does require me to cycle in Innervates though but that is without Might or Replenishment helping me out.
I never got a chance to check thorns out or not with eclipse and confirm that it does get a boost. It's in my things to test section. By all means if you can test it let me know.
Treants do neither Nature or Arcnae damage BUT they are affected by haste so save them for an NG proc.
GoMF is in the list as per EJ chatter. MF does seem to be the better option in my head but I have no math while they seem to though have not released numbers as of yet.

The 4.0.1 patch is going live today. I will update information to reflect the correct numbers once it is up and running.
Namely the final Total Eclipse numbers.... I've seen it go from 6% +1.5% to 0% + 1.5% to
17% + 1.5%
on the PTR while they figure out the balancing for it.
EDIT: HIT YOUR TRAINERS UP FIRST THING!
Omen of Clarity is a trained spell rather then a talent for us now. This means you must purchase it from your trainer! I suspect many of the mana issues people noticed on the PTR was simply not picking this spell up as they should have. It has been far and away our biggest mana talent and heavily relied upon by the balance spec for years now. I repeat DO NOT FORGET THIS!
ok... happy nuking :P

you still have treants as #1 in rotation in think (after saying they benefit from haste), so wouldnt it be #2 or 3 after one or both dots are up?
also...is mastery worth it? after reforging almost everything to mastery i have only 928 crit and 493 haste. should i be reforging for haste/crit, or just haste? is crit even that important anymore now that eclipse changed and there is effectively no soft cap?

I'm still playing around with the nature of mastery vs haste at this time. I can say for sure on Crit/haste gear you want to convert the crit to mastery. As well as any gear that has excess hit you want to convert that to mastery.
But gear that is haste/Spirit or haste/hit, I'm still trying to decide on. The difference is very small between them in terms of gain and honestly it will come down to whether or not the haste you might get would add a tick of damage or not on your dots (which is not something easily determined all told. In all reality this will probably become a point of preference between mastery and haste on this bit without a solid run in a theorycrafting engine.
As for Treants, They gain the haste buff dynamically. I say put them in at the beginning of an eclipse as that is the best way to maximize the time they have haste as you will probably be hitting the other eclipse before their timer runs out. For lead off it is just easier to drop them as a start before you run in.

Our balance druid is doing 21k DPS in the 10man ToGC. Ironic spec name, huh.

so it's worthwhile to drop my crit potentially below 900 and haste below 400 to eek out some more mastery?
and for the DoTs, has anyone figured out if they're rolling or not? like if you cast IS during solar, refresh before solar ends, and then clip/refresh it during no eclipse, or even lunar, will it still have all the damage from solar phase?

Crit is a yes.
Haste is a no. Officially.

You should not be refreshing outside of eclipse unless it is force and on the move MF spam.
DoTs applied while in the effect of Eclipse continue to tick at the same power when solar ends. Clipping DoTs just at the end of Eclipse is not enough of a boost as you should be most of the way to the next eclipse and the NG buff there before they fall off.
Refresh DoTs only at the times specified in the rotation posted.

I'm not exaggerating. Rogues were doing 10k and he managed to squeeze out 21k on Jaraxxus.
