Exactly what GC says, it'd be justice that happens every single instance you get into because people have been dumbed down by WotLK's AoE fest.

BC's CC is back, time to relearn tab targeting and to watch out for the traps, the saps, the shackles and all the rest.

As Dk blood tank I think this'll be quite interesting. At the moment I feel too overpowered, and just find myself mashing a few buttons and repeating till a boss dies. At the start of cata I'm hoping for a bit more of a challenge.

ohh this is gonna be peachy =/ my battlegroup is full of AoE whiners who DESPISE attacking my target =/
if there's a group of 4 mobs, and I drop D&D, then infect and spread diseases, you can be sure that ALL 3 of the DPS in the group will focus exclusively on the mob farthest away from me, the one I'm least focusing on.
is so bad that even if they pull aggro, they WILL NOT stop attacking their target, nor switch to a diferent one so I can regain aggro, no no, because aparently topping the recount charts is more important than not wiping
worst part being them lashing at me calling me a crappy tank for not saving them from their own stupidity. Being a tank is a harsh tankless (Pun intended) job, =/ good thing that the instant queues make up for it.
my main concern as a tank in CATA is my runes, DK runes reload SLOW, slower than today actually, due to DS proccing it's shield on me, (shield much needed for survival) I HAVE to use it every 10 secs, this means that (after the initial rotation in wich I have 6 runes) I only have 1 rune up every 10 secs.
thecnically I have 3 up every 10 secs, but with DS being mandatorial for it's shield, that leaves 1 blood rune to work miracles with. On any situation that has a streaming wave of adds (the gauntlet on stratholme, the tribunal fight, the whelps on onyxia, the LK gauntlet on HoR, ect) DK tanks will be sub-par compared to warriors and paladins (bears are on a similar boat as us with their only AOE methods having CD's)
then we get to the part that our rotation is too RNG fixed.
We have to be lucky to dodge/parry a hit to proc rune strike, then we have to be twice as lucky so that RS procs runic empowerment, then we have to be triple lucky so that the Runic Empowerment proc activates a rune we actually need rather than a rune we don't.
that's unaceptable for a tank, tanks shoudn't depend on luck to do their job, is ok if DPS depends on a little luck but not tanking, since lives depend on our performance.
they fixed this somewhat by having Rune Strike not depend on Dodges and Parrys while on blood presence, another fix would be that whenever Rune Strike is used, RE has 100% chance to proc (to prevent non-tanks from having this OP feature, it could be baked onto a blood talent like Sanguine Fort)
if Rune Strike had 100% chance to refresh a depleted rune, this would give us more resources to work with, rather than be rune-starved, as you all know, mobs DON'T wait 10 secs for runes to reload. If a new add joins the fight, I need to keep it away from the healers and dps NOW, and taunt isn't suposed to do that, not against multiple mobs anyways.
I tried to perform on the PTR during the tribunal fight on HoS and was completely overwhelmed, by the 3rd minute of the fight I simply wasn't able to keep up with the adds. (good thing that due to the gear of premades, and the gear of live-copied toons, is near-imposible to wipe on that these days)

Oh I can't wait for tanking. I loved tanking in BC but when WotLK came out. Ugh. No matter what I did, I failed at AoE tanking on my warrior. I always suggested some CC on the bigger pulls and some times the other people did it... then they AoE everything breaking the CC.
This. Will be playing a prot pally in Cata and I can't wait. (in before "it will suck because consecration is on CD")
The HP pools will be interesting as well... Seeing as entry level geared tanks have like 100-114k right now on the beta. :-p

I myself have a "You spank it, You tank it" policy when I tank. If there are issues when we start out I tell the group that and to target through me when they can. Or suffer the consequences. =>

I think the habit that will cause the most problems is the habit of just attacking the closest target. Many, many times I've been tanking a heroic, and I deliberate target and focus a "dangerous mob." One that whirlwinds, or some other issue. However, unless that mobs is in the forefront of its group, no one attacks it. While this was only really an issue when people were first hitting heroics back in Winter 08/09, in dungeons where the ramifications of such behaviour will be much larger...
Well, I can't wait.

I can understand the cc aspect of things and I get where they are going. The thing I'm NOT looking forward to is Heroic runs taking 45 mins to 1 hour like they did in TBC. I kinda got use to Heroics in under 30 mins, especially ones like AN that take 15 mins (before farming them).

Personally I don't want challenging in my job description when it comes to my role making or breaking a group. I enjoy AoE tanking, both on pally and on warrior(which I to this day do not understand people saying warrior AoE tanking pales....I find it easier than my pally.) I tanked back in vanilla and BC, and while it was fun, the fun was mostly from the fact that I had already long adjusted to the way tanking had to done back then. CC everything you can, and burn the mobs down one by one. Tab, no AoE threat, sunder CCs so that you have a threat base when you shift targets, rinse repeat. The problem now is everyone is used to AoE tanking. Drood? Swipe spam go! Pally? Ret Aura/Consecrate/SoV/Ashield/DR/HoR. Hell Pally is MADE to AoE tank these days(we'll see about Cata build). Warrior? Clap/MouseoverSunders/Devestate/SW what have you. Everyone has, for the most part accepted AoE tanking as the norm, and it has sped the process up when it comes to dungeon leveling and farming.
Of course the people that will be hurt the most by this are the new players that were never around for Vanilla and BC, and I feel that shoving them at the bottom of the learning curve could drastically hurt what tiny tanking player base we have atm. Atleast how it has been the last 2 years, they had the opportunity to learn how current tanking was done while they leveled. Now the midlvl-lv80 new players that don't have the prior expansion experience, are either going to lose all capability to tank and move on to dps/healing, or they will struggle for the remainder of their leveling, and not live up to the expectations of their groups.
Iunno maybe I'm just the wierd one with that view on it.
