New CAT build at level 80 (36 Points)

For level 80, the build for feral DPS seems rather straightforward, but I'd like to know if anyone else has other opinions. For me, it really boils down to placing the last two points, since we don't have enough to get into the resto tree for Master Shapeshifter:
34 point tree with two left over:

One could fill out Furor, but that really isn't very important as feral DPS. I am partial to Nurturing Instinct just so I am a bit easier to heal... and I can retain the idea that I might help heal one day, despite the fact that I can't remember the last time that happened! One could put one point into Survival Instinct, and the last point into... anything. I suppose Survival Instinct would be useful, though I have never had it in a cat build before so may not remember to ever use it. The last option I see would be for those who PVP some with their cat build, who could pick up some Thick Hide to prevent crits or Natural Shapeshifter. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the comments. However, I question you're not wanting to take a second point in Stampede. When you have 1/2, it gives you 10 seconds of half-price ravage, which is nice. But with 2/2, it gives you 8 seconds of FREE Ravage. So you can essentially spam the thing for 8 full seconds with zero energy cost (with a SR put in and maybe a Rake or a Mangle, if you're the mangle-bot) That seems like a huge amount of potential damage to me, since the primary reason we have never bothered with Ravage before was the high energy cost. The only problem, of course, is threat... I can imagine this might pull aggro very quickly.

Why 2/2 Brutal Impact?
Stampede = 1 Ravage. That was confirmed by GC. However, I'd still get 2/2 because there's nowhere else to put it.

I'd probably get SI for my cat spec now, then put 1/2 in NS as I'll be going there anyway.

not a fan of brutal impact seeing as rogue and warriors can silence fine in melee for fights like deathwhisper, as can shaman and mages...even balance druids can silence when the patch hits.
id rather take pelfs route and then put one in SI and one in NS. only difference being i'd do 2/3 furor, 1 SI, then max out NS
i actually like SI now with 60% damage reduction, even if it has a longer cd and doesnt last as long. SI + BS should be nice when you know there's a lot of damage coming (pulled aggro or just feel like standing in a flame on marrow or what have you)

Okay, I'm a idiot, apparently. The 8 and 10 seconds just means you have that much time in which to use the one free, non-stealth Ravage, then? I suppose a good opener for that is going to be FFF>Charge>Mangle>SR>Ravage>Rake>Shredspam...
I didn't realize SI was changing; that will indeed be a great one for Festergut, etc. Thanks for the comments, fellas.

I think you have the right of it, oberon. It's access to a short-cooldown interrupt for ferals which doesn't exist elsewhere and wasn't *really* required before -- and certainly not in 25s.
The other nice thing about adding Ravage into our opening rotation, at no cost, is that it generates CP and (obviously) works with Primal Fury. That's 1 GCD of energy regen we get while still generating CP and doing damage. It's certainly useful. Just means that the first Rip goes up even faster.

wouldnt rip be the best thing to get up first (5cp ofc) since SR doesnt effect it anyways?

Probably not, I'd want to get SR up to buff the free Ravage.

SR still gets its full effect from any number of CP, so it's much cheaper and faster to get up than rip. White hits also do a very sizable amount of our damage, even more than rip actually.
Which I find to be funny given how many times blues have said they would like active abilities to be a larger portion of damage done.

Cataclysm SR doesn't buff Ravage. It only buffs white hits.
D'oh. Well, in that case it
could
be more effecient to get Rip up first. Depends how much damage you can gain from getting SR up
x
seconds ealier. Also with better gear you'd have more haste/mastery, increasing your bleeds' contribution to total dps, making Rip more favourable with better gear, yes?

As said, you can put SR up even with 1 CP to enjoy it to the fullest.
But will this really make it into the final design like this? The effect is in no way related to the amount of CP consumed, sounds stupid to me. In that case it'd better consume just one CP, or no CP at all (in other words not make it a finishing move).

Yeah they aren't changing that.
