Op seems to assume that everyone who plays WoW shares his crazy fear of being found out by the masses.

and racist.
LOL..no. Don't be dumb and say that.
You only do something because Americans do it. If Mexicans do it, you don't want to do it. If the Chinese do it, you don't want to do it. If any other race besides your own does it, you don't want to do it.
When you base decisions purely on race alone, that is racism. You did just that. Own up to it, then please go step in front of a bus so the world will become a better place.
Sorry I just feel the need to point out one very MAJOR point to you're flame of his statement. American is NOT a race. Learn what a race is, then try to defame someones statement. He didn't say "I don't want to play if black people are playing, or latino people are playing(latinas too <3) or asians." Last I checked American(by which people living here are called, you guess it, AMERICAN) was a mixed up mess of all races. Just felt the need to put your idiocy and closedmindedness down before you continued to accuse someone else of said mindset.
On the topin, I wouldn't mind knowing that info as well. What part of that is the NA consumer would be an interesting thing to see. Just to see if it was becoming a widely excepted thing in American to play WoW, cause it certainly was at one time a VERY huge stigma to touch this game, as well as others like FFXI and EQ(albeit FFXI was only a stigma here, Japanese game after all.)

In a way he has a point, I mean, as US player he has little interest in the EU servers blooming, if the US ones look like barren deserts.
But, a) it's end of expansion time. I know that the majority of my guildies have not cancelled their accounts, but are just not online. Combine this with the summerlull that seems to muddle through, it looks like for the past months less and less people are playing and the game is grinding to a stop. I'm sure it isn't, this is a wave that you will see for the rest of you live if you continue to play any MMO.
b) Even if the US servers are coming down (I think the majority of that growth lies in China where TBC or Wrath (sorry to lazy to look it up) has been released now...talk about us complaining we are doing with the same content for like forever now), no worries, they will find ways to accomodate you. Even if it is for example mixing the servers with....gasp...EU ones. No worries, you will find that we in general avoid talking about politics and religion online, which makes us in general normal people to be around with...

Trolls don't typically logically reply to posts made in their posts. So, I'm sorry, either 1) it's a legitimate concern of someone, which matters since there are others that feel it's information that should be released to us, or 2) it is a troll post, and again, doesn't matter since there are others that feel it should be released. I lean more towards #1, but honestly don't give a rats ass about it. Doesn't change that Blizz should be required to report on a breakdown of their numbers when they choose to boast a "12 million" subscriber base. Try harder on your attempt to look like the only intelligent person in a room of idiots. May wanna not pick a room with intelligent people.

Read his last post on page 1 again, and tell me the guy is serious. If you still think so, you belong in the room mate. ;)

Hopefully the little rumor I heard about more servers coming with Cata release is false because some servers are ghost towns depending on what side youre on.
If Blizzard adds no new servers, then that is a very bad sign. Here's a business moto: if you're not growing, you're declining.
Not opening new servers means that Blizzard doesn't need new ones. What could this mean? Either they over estimated future sales of WotLK and made too many servers or WoW didn't grow much during WotLK. Both are bad, the second is worse.
Over estimating future sales is bad because a lot of investors, well, invest money based on those predictions. This means that investors didn't not make the money they had thought to make. Which could mean that they'll pull their money. And don't try to say, "12 million subscribers, they don't need investors", because that's not how businesses work. All big businesses need investors. You can buy Activision stock, hence, investors.
The other, non-growth, is super bad. If a business does not grow faster then inflation, then it is declining. If Blizzard isn't opening new servers because there isn't enough players AND their sales department predictions indicate no need for new realms, that is awful.
However, Activision stock, as of today, is up .9 points, or .82 %. :)

I will point out two pieces of evidence to the contrary.
My server is Fenris ( look it up, it is one of the least popular pve servers).
At 8am one day last week, I was doing the fishing daily (the VH one). There were literally 25 other people doing the exact same quest. The same is true when i do the ghostfish one in SB. It is not uncommon for at least 10 people to be there. I've played games like AOC where you are lucky to see 10 people in an hour in their endgame zone.
As far as new players... I've been tanking a lot of instances while I level up my pally (lvl 30ish). I am constantly amazed at how many people are on their 'first toon'. At the beginning, I always warn people that this isn't an endgame heroic that we outgear, so please be careful with aggro. I always get people saying they dont' have a high level character doing heroics.
All that aside. If you want to see that WOW is doing ok, just look at their financial reports. If the vast majority of those 12M players were from china paying $1/month, then WOW wouldn't be earning a billion dollars a year.

I'm an investor in ATVI. Trust me, I don't think any of us are going to microanalyze a minor blunder in WOW. I'm personally trying to find out how much they paid eminem for DJ Hero. That was our big bust last year.

I dunno about growing or declining. Everyone I know IRL who used to play quit over Real ID, none of them came back. That said, at least a few of us are in that "twelve million" because we had six-month subs. I really don't see why it should matter either way, though. Obviously, Real ID is here to stay, and the Facebook deal is worth enough money that Blizzard thinks it'll pay off. That means that even if subscriptions in the US decline, Blizzard will be making more money.

For the people claiming that Blizzard has cut back on customer service, I would like to point to Blizzards main job page.
Career Opportunities
I know for a fact that the job postings for Billing and GM reps has been up there for more than 2 years. (Some of my friends have applied a few times) Which that means either two things, one that they are constantly needing more to meet the demands of us the players, or two that Blizzard is not a great place to work. I find the second notion far from believable.
I think the high ticket times are just a combination of Blizzard being a victim of their own success and people getting their accounts hacked. Also anyone complaining about ticket times must have never put in a ticket in any other online game, at least the GMs in WoW talk to you or send you the information you need.

Most video game companies are not great places to work, at one level or another -- there's enough people who desperately want to "work in video games" that there's a tendency to longer hours or worse conditions than other industries see.
Also, I hear rumors that job satisfaction is way down in the ATVI era.
