that MMO-C thread is a copy/paste job from warlocomotiv's
EJ thread
which i think is really bad.
as you see though haste's value flails wildly for destro and demo which is why i'm not willing to advise stacking it to the detriment of your int until i ge the chance to do some extensive simming myself to understand the size of the variance and the specific points at which they occur.
forsaking all else for haste and reaching just below 1405 is about the worst thing you can do as you will make it impossible to refresh immo with HoG and add a whole extra GCD to the rotation.
being aware of how much haste you could gain by a complete transfer to haste gems is a good idea and it's probably worth doing if you can surpass 1405 but i just don't see being good general advice for demo right now since sims show haste's value dip well below that of int at some gear points.
generally speaking it's dangerous for everyone to use advice from EJ without some translation to how that effects most other players, those not in BiS gear sets.
soul fire sucks. it's been nerfed to a relatively pitiful state. what you're doing is fine but i wouldn't go to any great lengths to do that.

heh, this is actually the perfect thread to bump for questions ^.^ Thanks for searching and reading the FAQ though!
If common WotLK openers hold through, you will probably cast a SB right after your first haunt to give haunt a second to hit the target before putting your DoTs up. This will also give you 2 stacks of SE right off the bat. The point of doing this isn't for the SE stacks though, the point is to get the Improved Shadow Bolt (now called
Shadow and Flame
) up on the target if you are the primary provider of said debuff.
Soul Swap does not swap Shadow Embrace stacks; soul swap only swaps Bane of Agony, Corruption and Unstable Affliction (might swap Bane of Doom, never tried). It does not swap Improved Shadow Bolt, Shadow Embrace, Haunt, Curse of *insert any curse here*.
Once again, thanks for searching and reading our FAQ =D

Ok, I am really new to high level wow stuff, like perfecting and enhancing every little part of your character. I have a 55 affliction warlock, ive tried out every other class to either ~15 or ~30 and lock was my fav =D heh, to prove a point, i figured out what GCD was about 30 seconds ago from reading a quote by asakawa.
I only have the first expansion, Burning Crusade, so i cant get to the 70+ material. ive been having a lot of stuff i didnt know for a while but i keep getting curious about it.
Anyway, i suppose i should ask some stuff.
Does being stuck at 70 mean i cant get haunt from the talent tree?
Is there a way to reduce all global cooldowns? I see that Pandemic does that for curses, but why would i apply a curse if i can only have one up at a time?
In dungeons, ive found that most of the enemies die before my dots do a lot of their damage. Bane of Agony virtually does nothing because its damage develops at the end, so ive started using Curse of Elements to try and make my corruption, unstable affliction, and shadow bolt and drain soul more effective, but mobs still die faster than i can do damage for.
Ive been getting out-dps'd by every one (except healer, thank god =P) and I dont know why. I cant find any better equipment in the auction house that is better and ive gone to the dungeons in my bracket and gotten every blue i could, along with good greens. I also got a few good greens from quests. I switched to succubus as the FAQ suggested, along with starting to use shadow bolt first, and ive seen a slight increase in dps (around 30, it seems). But it seems like im severely underpowered and i cant tell how to fix it or make it better.
How do you find good gear? I tried using the database to find good pieces but it didnt work out well. the only thing i really found was the elite Alanna's Embrace, but the drop rate meant that i would find it once in 62 runs. how do i incorporate the stat weighting thing in the FAQ? i guess it would help to know what ratios between intellect, stamina, and haste are on the 'best' capped gear, but when im 55 and cant reach 85, i just have no idea how to tell which things are best. right now, ive been maxing out intellect because my gear is temporary enough that its the only real important thing.
SIDENOTE: @OP was that starcraft 2 forum perhaps the armory? =)
Thanks for any and all answers =) you can look at my profile,

Don't worry about it at 55. Just keep questing and run the higher-level dungeons that become available to your level range. Once you hit level cap for your expansions you can gear up on dungeons available at 70. You'll end up with a pretty good gear set and then you can start hunting for the best stuff. That being said I think you may end up buying the expansions. =)

Ha, yea i definitely will. I got a $50 for xmas and plan to use that on wotlk =P
So, short of gear, how can i improve DPS?

Think about your encounters and modify what spells you use for each one. If you run dungeons, you should be able to capitalize on Hellfire/Felstorm for AoE depending on what spec you want to go with. When you have a single target boss fight usually the fight won't last long, but you should be able to get your main dots on it, then fill in with nukes. Honestly AoE was my big /win in dungeon runs and single target fights were meh for a while when it came to dps rankings. Once you get to higher levels you'll start to really start blasting on the meters.

so we use soul swap with glyph against thrash mobs to allow us DoT loads of people up quickly yeah? Instead of raining fire on everyone?
This really depends on the length of your fight. In most cases for trash mobs I'm using a combination of Hellfire, Metamorphasis+Immo Aura, and Hand of Guldan+Felstorm to really do an AoE trash burn. Even if I weren't using my Demo talent build I'd probably be using Hellstorm for the trash if I had 3 or more targets and the situation allowed for it.

lolwut?
There's no such thing as Hellstorm
Using Hellfire as anything else than demo is subpar

Afaik, soul swap glyphed has a 10 sec cd. And using it unglyphed removes your dots from the original target. So no can do.

to give an accurate answer to those questions you'll need to import your character into simulationcraft. there's a sticky detailing how to do this.
the more general and less accurate answer is:
hit (to cap) > haste to a plateau > crit > mastery > haste
plateaus are 10%, 30%, 50%, 70% fully raid buffed.

I dont know what napkin math you did but at current PvE 359 gear lvl you need something like 19k dps
without your pet
to get even (not to mention ooc regen), so yes, it might be a slight buff for in combat situations but not "by far".
For PvP its a huge nerf as you have more stamina on PvP gear, so the flat HP% regen is larger and also your DPS is way lower and you spend more time doing little to no dmg.
If the transition between wotlk and cata is any indication on how our HP to dmg ratio is going to evolve in the future then the days this might be seen as a buff are numbered anyway.

Is that with or without the talent to increase its healing btw?

tugipus
The talent buff is linear (50/100%) so it doesnt matter as long as you dont compare talented with non-talented. (My previous number is slighly off...you only need about 16 to 17k dps without pet and AoE to get even)
Post by
Rekijan
Let me repeat my question. If you do 16-17k to break even, is that the number with or without the talent.?

x/y=z; (x*1,5)/(y*1,5)=z; (x*2)/(y*2)=?
x=fel armor healing now
y=fel armor healing ptr
1,5 is with one talent point, 2 with 2 talent points in demonic aegis
