New characters replace the old ones. It always happens. Don't need to worry about change.
When a story replaces to much of what made that story good, it has little substance to be that same story anymore. I actully stopped reading x-men for just that reason.

Which is sad; the new stuff is quite excellent, but because your stubborn, you missed out on it.

Actully I tell a lie. I did pick up one or two when in london a few weeks ago, read through, and put them back. I don't find anything recognisable about the x-men now, and nothing enough to draw me back into it.

Well DUR, thats why this topic is about what Thrall is doing and, oh thats right, it wasn't started by me.
Seriously, and people here said the posters on mmo champ were bad...

I'm gonna be on Tauren's side for this one, DC/Marvel do not seem to know what kind of stories they want to tell, and the X-Meniverse, as well as it is remotely coherent when put in front of the other teams of the Marvel universe, has made me drop the title a long while ago (then again I stopped caring about comics so bad my pull list was closed).
They put in some good authors on Uncanny, though (back when I was reading, Brubaker finished his 14 issue arc of Charles Xavier's crazy space adventures and Matt Fraction was put in on the title for the move to San Francisco, although I liked the adjectiveless title's focus on Xavier trying to redeem past mistakes.) Still, I do not like all the squandered opportunities (The Sentinel mini as well as Sentinel Squad One could have brought in some interesting new faces to the Marvel U - they ended up not doing jack with them.)
I gave up reading x-men and other marvel titles for just those reasons your discribing. When you've been reading comics for over 10 years, you know when somethings changed in the substance of the stories. You grow to recognise it too in other genres.
Its whats scaring me here in warcraft now. Much like with how I felt about the x-men, I can now see myself going the same way with how there shaping the horde in cata and beyond that. Well nobody can predict how a story is meant to go, if your exposed to something to dramaticly shifting in the story that you can't recognise it anymore, then its not the same story you fell in love with.
