Dodge -> Mastery
Hit (over 8%) -> Mastery
Expertise (over 26) -> Mastery
Expertise is a matter of taste.. We still benefit from up to 56 Expertise (less parries), but it's not crucial..
Haste.. I'd keep that..

If you're tanking Halion, parry haste is enabled and increases the value of Expertise for that fight, specifically.

dodge -
f*ck no!
I stand corrected, dodge SHOULD in fact be reforged after all
:)
Hit over 8% - yep
Exp over 26 - I'd rather not
Crit - f*ck no!
haste - yes pl0x. It's our least useful stat
Post by
Shiverlynn
Switching dodge to mastery when DR start hitting it hard
might
be a good idea. Otherwise, hit when over 8% and haste.

have fun getting 16% hit
Post by
LookOut
Then reforge 1-2 peices till it says your melee hit chance is 16% and your good...
Any extra hit I reccomend making it into dodge. Though on the other hand I might take out a bit of dodge when I get the chance and put it into Mastery so when the spike damage happens I'll be prepared and can mitigate it far more easily.
Expertise is
tough
.
Crit is a priority here. And crits trigger my trinkets.
Lastly, Mastery is our top priority. But not the quickest to just dump into. Well...it is, depends on your taste. Mastery is something you wanna dump into just depends on how much you wanna dump into it.
All are very good just depends on flavor. Again, best thing about this patch is it brung personal taste and less cookie cutter builds
Most of what you said is bs tbh. I didn't quote your entire post, but just the main phrase of each paragraph. And put them together here and there.
As Falkor said: 16% hit? What do you think we are, friggin casters? Check the posts above you, they clearly state 8%.
You're mingling 2 perspectives: low geared and BiS. Someone low geared will not yet have to worry about dodge DR or having "too much crit" (say what?).
Reforge to mastery, not dodge. Dodge is already plentiful on gear and is gotten through agi. Mastery however is not yet on our gear, so reforge to that instead. This is only for lvl 80 however, since we have no idea yet how it'll turn out at 85 when mastery will start to be plentiful on gear as well. You even said it yourself (albeit with "I might" in front of it)
Expertise is tough if you don't have Ikfirus' Sack, I'll grant you that.
I think calling 2 stats priorities is odd :p ... O wait, crit is priority, but mastery is TOP priority! ... yeah.
Crit triggers your trinkets? Are you raiding with dps trinks or something? o_O
I'm not too sure if cookie cutters are really out of the window. I expect theorycrafting to push us in one way or another (like it always does) when Cata is out. But we'll see.
TL;DR
As shiverlynn said, hit over 8% and haste (and
maybe
dodge when DR starts hitting hard) --> mastery
Post by
Thror
Oh god wall of text, and the TL;DR was incomprehensible.
Expertise is
tough
. You will liekly have to reforge 3-5 peices of gear to get to 26 expertise.
This made me lol. I had 48 expertise when 4.0.1 hit lol. Easy reforging. But i am not parry capped at the Lich King anymore (sad panda). But i never get to the Lich King anymore (happy panda).
I would advice...
Haste -> Mastery, always. When there is haste, and there isn't mastery, haste has to go.
Dodge -> Mastery, always. Dodge is avoidance and we are knees deep in the dodge DR. To hell with avoidance. Mastery is EH.
Then it depends on caps. If you are over Hit or Expertise, reforge those into Mastery. I would not touch Crit, since thanks to Mastery, crit is quite a valuable EH stat for us.
edit: Lookout, you beat me by 42 seconds.

Muahaha ^_^ As always though, your info was more concise and to the point. E.g. I still wasn't sure if I'd reforge dodge to mastery, but now I will :D
I wouldn't touch expertise above the cap though. I HATE not hitting a boss, and that includes parries. I don't care that it rarely triggers parry-haste nowadays, I just want to HIT the damn bastard!
Also, no way you're at 48 expertise post-patch. I have like 32 right now or something :(

Thror
I am certain i had 46 expertise before the patch, and i am certain i did not have less than that post patch. I think i remember myself saying "huh, where did i get two points of expertise" after i saw my character pane after the patch. But i am not sure now. Maybe i really did not have 48, and only had my usual 46. And i reforged it down to like, 28 i think.
It's been a while since i looked at my stats :D And i play Gothic 4 these days.

Your expertise should have dropped by 10, since we lost it in our talents. I got 32 right now (if I remember correctly), and I intend to keep it that way.

Yeah if you read my posts after that one, you would notice I acknowledged that. Corrected it now.

There is no cookie cutter specs dude. I gave him three common routes of Big But Bear Tanking. If he wants to go Mastery>Dodge>expertise let him, if not then he can go Dodge<Mastery<Crit, or some other combination as the post below. And no I'm using the Level 245 (or is it 232) Trinket from a ToC that raises my dodge my a certain amount on crit and stacks I beleive.
And I agree fresh 80s dont have to worrie about BiS (not that I even mentioned that) or reaching caps. I just gave him the general info he should shoot for when heading into ICC 10. Like I said everything before ICC 10 isnt as important, just he should be gearing TOWARD ICC 10 not on it as a fresh 80 as that would be redundant to do while scrapping it epics from ToC and ICC 5 mans, Ony, etc. I suggested that he simply moves into lower level raids and ICC 5s and look for that certain gear and stats to keep and/or reforge, thats it, I dont know where you got that other stuff you cann BS from because I didnt type it.
Oh its wall of text guy again.
Actually yes, there are cookie cutter builds. There is more than one possible good talent build for a feral druid, but that doesnt mean that they can not be called cookie cutter. They still feature a certain base pattern of talents, and a couple points are optionally spread into talents with minor importance.
You did give some info in your post, but it was not that great. There were a bunch of things you just kinda disputed, and you did not provide any certain, set in stone advice. Only named out the possibilities. I say noone can go wrong with this:

Oh and mistype it is 8% hit.
I TANK WITH MY FACE!
About the bolded/underlined part: WTB consistency. Using > on the first and < on the second is kind of confusing tbh.
I said BiS, but I actually meant "higher geared". Details. But we don't know at what gear level the OP is, so I'm not too sure if your "advice" was all that needed ...
You say specs, but you mean stat choices. When WE say specs, we actually mean talents / builds. and there WILL be a cookie cutter build in Cata. With maybe 2 or 3 optional points at the end (Feral Aggression, Stampede, ...).
Anywho, I am still looking for that dodge-on-crit trinket of yours. It's not
this one
nor
this one
, and afaik those are the only tanking trinkets in ToC. I tried looking you up on the armory (just in case you had it equipped right before patch day), but couldn't find you. So please, enlighten me. I'm curious.
/agree with what Thror posted above me, except I wouldn't touch expertise, even if it is above the soft cap :D
as a sidenote: 14k deeps tanking trash before Marrowgar in ICC10 xD Not a big feat probably, but topping the meters as a tank in a RAID ... just wauw.

Meh. I do hate when a boss parries my attack, but it just doesn't really matter anymore. It used to before, but we do imba threat now. The only boss when Expertise matters is heroic Hallion, and i do not do that.
Also, in my raid i was the third on AoE. Dunno what new AoE things Warlocks got, but i had two Warlocks on top of my damage done.

Even if it doesn't matter, it still bugs me like hell. I just don't like getting parried, so I don't reforge expertise :)
Forte doesn't seem to tell me yet when Pulverize is parried. Had quite a few occassions where I was surprised to still see lacerate stacks on the boss after pulverizing ...
I have to point out though, that I topped the meters in an altrun, not a main run. I only tanked it because we couldn't find any tank (except a pugged druid after a while), and I missed out on the main run the night before anyways ... Good excuse to let the raid leader take my alt to the main run this sunday :D
About the lock AoE: each spec uses a different AoE now (pre-patch, every spec used Seed of Corruption)
- affliction: seed of corruption. They can also soulburn that spell once in a while to cause every target it hits to be affected by the dot corruption
- demo: hellfire (still damages the lock, which sucks since demo has always been my favourite pve spec :<), immolation aura when in meta form and Felguard's Felstorm
- destro: hellfire
writing lock info on the druid forums ftw :D
