Unless
the Alliance
goes to war... Then he'd be a total badass.
Seriously, why does the Horde have to start all the wars?
Both sides got their times to start wars, ignoring the Old Horde because its not the same as The Horde.Well, we got the Wrathgate, the Broken Front, and so on.
All the Alliance really have is their attack on the Shatterspears (which goes pretty much unaddressed; and besides, they're already at war), and their capturing Thrall.
There's also that whole invasion of Horde territory thing that's called the Battle for the Undercity.
But I guess since it happened on Forsaken soil it's not the
REAL
Horde so it doesn't count.Eh, the reason most people don't think of it as an invasion is because Undercity was under the control of Varimathras and Putress at the time.

Garrosh is actually a better leader than a lot of people are pegging him to be, he's fair but strict when he needs to be. He knows right from wrong and once you play through cata you will find he is more like thrall than he is in wrath.
He kills a commander for attacking innocents, he calls Sylvannis a ^&*!@ for being the cocky chick she is but he knows that without the valkyr she brings back from northrend the forsaken would be lost as an ally...
He's a very good leader, he is just going through growing pains... like trusting the Crone Grimtotem to embue his weapon during the duel with Cairne... He didn't know she poisoned the blade and when he found out he was not only sad for the loss of cairne but infuriated at the crone and put a bounty on her head...
Garrosh is the perfect leader... especially since the alliance are the ones that are instigating a LOT of the fighting going on in cata. Purposely trying to attack and capture the ship that thrall is on so they can bring him to King wrynn. Attacking the horde just because they have outgrown the resources of durotar and started gathering resources from ashenvale/stonetalon.
There are a lot of things you guys are saying about Garrosh that make him seem like a bad guy when in fact he's doing the best a leader can do when faced with so much so soon after becoming leader of a multinational force.

Alliance instigating?
Where?
No, seriously, I'd love to see the Alliance being the "bad guy" for once.
They massacres the Shatterspears, and they captured Thrall, but that's about it (don't know enough about Camp Taurajo to know whether to count that or not).
Garrosh razes Ashenvale, Krom'gar blows up a druid settlement (yes, Garrosh punishes him for that, but that doesn't undo the damage), Sylvanas attacks Gilneas by Garrosh's order, and so on...
Add all of that to the Wrathgate, Broken Front, and Violet Citadel that we got in Wrath, and I'd say that the Alliance is really due for some "bad guy" treatment. (The Shatterspear massacre would be a good start if anyone actually remembered it. It really seems glossed over after Darkshore.)

In all fairness with regards to Garrosh good guy/bad guy discussions, you have to admit that Blizzard has been making a lot of very sharp turns on his personality.
In TBC he was just depressed and whiny in Nagrand, and pretty aggrivating to work with. In WotLK he was on an irrational roid rage binge in Northrend, and pretty aggrivating to work with. Obnoxious both times, but pretty much a complete 180 personality shift.
Now in Cat from what I've seen it seems like we're getting a mixed bag. He's slash-and-burning Ashenvale because F the Night Elves and treats most other races of the Horde essentially like subordinates (at best) or slaves (at worst) to the Orcs. But on the other hand he disagrees with and reprimands the commander for the attack on the druids in Stonetalon and is completely against use of the plague by the Forsaken in any capacity.
It seems to me like in Cataclysm they're finally settling in on a "legitimate" personality for him while in the previous two expansions he was essentially a one dimensional caricature. And his new persona is actually not too shabby at all and very properly Orc, if that makes any sense. But all his past stuff is still there, hovering over him.
To me it mostly just feels like Blizzard really dropped the ball on what they wanted Garrosh to be and are trying to make up for it now that they've got it nailed down.
Meh, just my thoughts.

You know, I just realized, we should probably move this particular part of this discussion to the Garrosh thread... :P

We've had quite enough of you and your sense making. *waves hand dismissively*
Err... yeah, you're probably right.
