Guys on my server a few month back when asked about ICC 10 men normal- people would ask for 5k gearscore. I agree with Aestu that GS is nothing but crap, but at he same time i feel 5,2k should in fact be enough for 10 men normal; it is rather the trend of people wanting things smooth and easy that determines a higher request, not the actual "sine qua non" condition for ICC. Is it really necessary to have more then this?

Look at it this way: short of acquiring additional gear and experience, why should other players bring you to raids?
Because he heals more than the 5.9k geared holy pala.
Although they don't know that beforehand

Step 1.: Get a guild.
Step 2.: Kill LK.
Step 3.: Obligatory ?.?.?
Step 4.: Profit!

Step 1.: Get a guild.
This. I was gonna mention that myself, but forgot -_-
But seeing as the OP's saying he's not able to find one with his low GS ... well, maybe it's best to wait for Cata and start on the same foot as everyone else?

wow prollfin - i must say that even though there are 2-3 details i would debate, your post was quite a nice read and it held its ground. I was only debating gearscore, not enchants, gems or even achievements. But ll you said is true - if you take a closer look, you might see the "lacking" side. Still 2 things i would like to know your opinion on:
1. "my way" of gearing is just run the next obvious raid in which you will find improvements. This is especially because i do not enjoy pvp, so that rules 1 option out. On second hand - suppose i lack the money to buy better BoE items. I admit 750g is not a lot and one would get there by only doing daily quests in about say 3 days? But if you would consider all the gear you could buy? you would easily go over a few thousand. And this will take a consistent effort. I agree - it is a way to show "you are serious" about a raid. I'm just wondering if this is the best way to go about it compared to taking a raid run for upgrades (maybe ToC would be a nice run before actually wanting ICC).
2. Suppose i never did ICC before, and i would like to go, whatever role i get in the raid. Personally i would try to find a go to sites that offer text or video on how to kill bosses and the tactic required. Would you be willing to take me in a raid, considering i do not have the achievement, if i could provide some knowledge about these fights from my research? And do you think any PuG leader would? And if you had this proof (that i do indeed know tactics) would my lack of achievements still be a problem in your eyes?
Again i would only want to know your opinion on this, not trying to prove or disprove anything here. Where is the line after which you do get invited to a raid?
P.S. My advise is: Don't look for clear run groups. Look for something like 7-9 Bosses first.I completely agree with that.

Cheers for the answer - think the info will be useful at some point ^^

You didn't even bother to upgrade every piece of gear you could have through random heroics.
I played on Burning Legion for a while and almost everyone there was terrible.
You probably aren't an exception.
