Quite frankly, if you rolled a Priest expecting to deal damage using Healer builds, I'm afraid you're fighting against the tide. Blizzard expresses different playstyles with the vast amount of classes available (and specs) to play a role of DPSer. If you are simply against cookie cutters, I'm afraid Cataclysm is going to bring more bad news for you.
It just doesn't make sense for Blizz to focus on balancing a rather subpar "issue" with their current philosophy.
Remember when DKs came out? the simple fact their 3 trees could tank and dps at the same time made them quite a deal of overpowered (S5 was a DK overflow). If priests could heal on par with all other healers and DPS even to "acceptable" levels at the same time, you can immediatelly see the brutal impact it would have in Player versus Player combat.
If you feel like doing it, sure; but if you're trying to get this to a competitive level, remember you are part of a raid group, and you should not be asking all the raid to give 105% to compensate for your own choices.

What's the point in trying to come up with a "competitive" disc DPS build? It's not ever going to be competitive unless you outgear your other party members by at least an entire tier, and even then it would be a complete waste of time to even try this in a raid scenario (except maybe ICC 10 with the current 30% buff, but that's only because it's a faceroll)
If you're actually going to try this, I recommend you do it with some friends who are aware of what you're attempting. Any other group will probably kick you when they see you're not pulling your weight.

If someone has an 80 Priest and would like to theory test these numbers, please go for it!
We did that, but you have dismissed all of our proof.
Looking at your proposed spec and you don't have points in your build for Twisted Faith. So does that mean you're planning on picking up +Hit items to offset this? For your build to be halfway-viable, you'll need to make sure the Holy Fire debuff is on your target, and the only way this would be reliable is by reaching the hit cap.
If you really wanted a Disc DPS spec then you'd plan ahead to pick up Twisted Faith so your more powerful spells are hitting reliably based on your Spirit, rather than hit rating.
Glyph of Smite
would be going to waste otherwise. Spirit would also allow you to sustain this DPS for longer than just 1 minute.
The trouble with this is that you'll be sacrificing throughput stats for hit rating, which by default will always leave you a little behind everybody else.
I'm doing on average around 1100-1200 DPS, which so far has only been beat out by a Mage
This is why we thought you were serious about doing competitive DPS, because of your boasting which then turned into this:
I have already conceded that it won't be competitive, (which is why I could careless btw) but it is still very powerful in PVP, which I was able to prove today.
Ah there it is, so you've conceded. But how have you proved that it's powerful in PvP? You didn't provide any proof other than stating generic facts about Discipline: "Smite causes damage lol". The fact is: in PvP if you're going to be DPS then you need to be able to burst targets down quickly, which Discipline cannot. Disc is great for
healing
in PvP but this thread isn't about healing at all, is it?
Then what is the point of this thread? Basically all you've "proven" is that Disc is great for solo levelling and can survive for a while in PvP—although, Disc is better off healing in PvP rather than trying to "burst" someone down with Smite :P
I don't want blizzard telling me I can't do this because they don't "want" it.
I hate jumping on those cookie cutter bandwagons like 99% of the players in the game
I'm doing this to spite Blizzard for assuming we WANT to use Shadow for DPS
...
Anyways, regardless of whether or not Disc DPS sucks in cataclysm,
I still have a nice Shadow build.
Does that mean we won?
Look—you asked for constructive criticism but you don't want anybody to say anything negative about your idea. The trouble is, it's not high enough
burst
damage and you skipped over a lot of good healing talents, so either way it's not going to be PvP-viable.
TL;DR:
We're not trying to be mean when we tell you it's not going to work. We're being constructive by telling you why.

what is your rotation when you did try shadow? and talent tree, just post up the log of damage since I think you doing it very bad if you outperforme shadow in a disc spec in a fight that go over more then 1-3 min
Also, the whole PVP thing, it works better than you'd might think. It's sort of like a Pally Shockadin when it comes to pvp--you keep yourself up with tons of healing, while beating them down with a 3-shot toolbox. Penance REALLY scares players when they suddenly lose 3000+ life... 3 times in a row. They feel they're getting hit by multiple players, were they to not see me.
Also, in that same WG, I was able to heal through tons of losing battles until recinforcements arrived--so it's a two-way fight, which I enjoy both.
irrelevant and useless information for the thread, nobody cares if you scare people with penance (9 k is not a number I be scared off since its obvious on a target that is low resi) and what healing you do in bg got nothing to do with the thread
afraid you not see the main problem with this thread that people try to tell you, you sacrifice major healing output for RS and ToT where RS got nothing to do with DPS, ToT you get maybe get little shorter penance but nothing major to make it really great damage spell ,
http://www.wowhead.com/talent#bfroMRRbfRMo0hZb
here I got the healing I need and I still can do the same amount of damage as you can (just move filler points from mental agi to shorter CD on PW:S if you want to proc the BT, but other then the RF then its basicly the same with healing
