My new lock just hit 80. I made it 6 days ago ^_^
It's AV weekend this weekend and I want to get it to 85 in time to get enough AV done to gear it out in epics... I made a really tough schedule for myself here >.<

That was really fast indeed! My priest is still stuck in firelands, can't make the bastard level up :(
On the matter of the staff, my only hope is that, as things go on, bosses are going to become easier and easier due to gear and experience, and that the embers are going to drop more easily every raid day.

D'you think this will burn me out on Locks? ^_^
I've got 10 85s already (one of each class) so I don't think I'm in any danger of that.
I run a 10man raid and I almost always get one ember from each boss. Occasionally it they won't drop one but the vast majority do in my experience.

Your such a dork, lol. My wife leveled her Shammy in 8 days to 80. It backfired tho cuz she burnt herself out on him. She got him to 85 when Cata came out and hasn't touched him since. And has no desire.
I got my pally and hunter sitting at 72. I've kinda taken a break from PvP, but with an AV weekend I think I will dust the pally off. I miss running into a group or 4 horde and pounding all their heads in.
With my lock it was always dot and run like a girl. Or hide behind a warrior and play peek-a-boo dots.
With more regards to the staff. I'm starting an alt 10m and will be taking my moonkin. Curious to see just how slow this will be. Maybe I'll have 2 toons with Legendaries : )
But that's FUN!
(So is SoC sniping)

I remember back in BC, I used to stay at choke points on AV and kept using SoC to bomb people, always worked :)

One thing that makes me curious in the Alysrazor fight. Bane of Agony sure gets some nice boost from haste, but how exactly it would work?
For example, would it be like this:
Out of 50 ticks, 10 would be weak, 10 would be slightly weak, 10 would be medium, 10 would be strong, and the last 10 would be super strong?
Or would it get a new adjective for every 4 ticks like it usually does on normal haste amounts? Like this
1st tick - weak
|
|
5th tick - stronger
|
|
10th tick - very strong
|
|
25th tick - Effing strong
|
|
40 or so tick - OMG ITS GONNA BLOW STRONG

Hmm, I half remember this coming up when haste-affecting-DoTs first came up. IIRC it just adds more strong ticks but that's half remembered and unsubstantiated so take it with a big grain of salt until someone with some maths or a better memory posts ^_^

Oh hell yes. The roads near Stormpike GY were amazing.

So, my
new Warlock
is 85 and almost fully epic'd. Now I'm starting to seriously look at Warlock arena tactics as I'll be starting that as soon as I've got all the honour gear.
Well, AJ's guides are dreadful (or at least they were written so early in Cataclysm that they talk about which blue crafted set is best etc. >.<) and Infleto's guide here is looking a little worse for wear.
I'm sure I'll be bothering you all with some specific questions before long but right now, does anyone have any general tips?
Like, is there anything you learned from PvPing that you wish someone had told you when you were first starting?

Focus frame, focus frame, focus frame.
Learn to juke and monitor enemy cds, including but not limited to spell interrupts.
Expect 45minute games that end up in double loss if you go with lock/healer in 2v2.
In 3v3 and 5v5 rotate spamming fear on a target and put up some dots.
And learn to improve your situational awareness.

Awesome.
I've got pretty good at using focus with the feral (instant clones and roots) and I've got an addon called "juked" that looks like it's really good for seeing interrupts.
I am wondering about the enemy cooldowns thing. Gladius shows the class icon with important cooldowns like Iceblock and Smoke bomb but does anyone have a good way to track other important things?

Hmm when I used to pvp serious (or attempted so at least)
afflicted
was what I was referring to. Except it seems horribly out of date. So you might have to find a new one.

Yeah, people seemed to be mentioning Afflicted and LockNotes in the same sentences and I found LockNotes2. It looks really good but I'm not sure how good it will be for tracking those things. It seems like messages and noises rather than timers but maybe that's not such a bad thing once I get used to it.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##update: from level 1 to

Arms Warrior VS Demo Lock
Who wins at AoE farming?
I was watching
The Starcraft2 Dude's
YouTube video's and I can't help but think that an Arms Warrior or Demo Lock would be better.
Edit: To clarify it's not a link to his channel - it's a link to his AoE farm with a Balance Druid.

there is a new addon that many pvpers swear by. I thought it seemed a bit over the top myself, but after listening to it through my partner's skype I must say I changed my mind a little. It's a voice mod that calls out most every important ability that it used in arena. May be worth a try.

another tip that seems to unite at least the more uber players of the lock communty is to not overuse fear. Often it is more productive to pump damage into things and dot more stuff up. Then when fear is really needed, for peels or for landing that CC on a healer that lets you finish someone else off, the fear is off DR and all dandy. Another thing (that may be obvious) is to abuse LoS and positioning, since it means less risk having to go on the defensive where putting out any damage whatsoever is severely hampered. Thats the strength of affliction, dots don't need all that much open air to breathe death into foes :)
