Speed is pretty important for your off-hand. You lose a substantial amount of poison damage through a 1.8 off-hand compared to a 1.4 one. There is literally zero benefit to use a slow off-hand as any spec in pve.
Try to picture this: in order for a 1.8 dagger to outperform a 1.4 speed one in the offhand, the iLvl difference needs to be about 51-64 levels large.

if you can't find one, it's not going to hamper you to much.
I use 1.8's and pull top 3 DPS in my guild.
i'm sorry for your guild.

It's less about your dps and more of the lower dps of your guildies who should be ahead.
Being in the 'x' spot on the meters of 'y' guild is all relative.
exactly. also 12k is bad since i see 17 to 20k around me everywhere. for real fun look at wold of logs at some real numbers.

Any proof beside this obvious exaggeration?
It depends on fight lenght, your other gear, buffs, debuffs (general stats) etc.
It really doesn't depend on fight lenght, unless we're talking about fights that last 10 seconds, in which, theoretically that one or two mutilates you perform hit slightly harder and possibly offset the damage lost through slower deadly poison stacking.
In the real world, however, speed is the single most important factor for your off-hand for both combat and assassination. Deadly poison and combat potency clearly favor faster weapons, and by large.
At 264 gear levels, a 0.4 speed increase on your off-hand is worth about 500 dps. You can verify that on any spreadsheet. You can also compare the performance of LPC/unsharpened ice razor/pvp offhands with any higher iLvl slow dagger.

You mean at players leveled in all heroic ICC gear?
So they must be wrong and you must be correct?
