Well the Hobbits were definitely rogues, Gandalf an arcane mage, Aragorn Arms warrior, Boromir a protection warrior? (took 3 arrows lol)

Actually, Aragorn doesn't fit into any WoW classes, he would be a combo of survival hunter, sub rogue, and ret paladin if anything.

I think Legolas would be MM, and he hasn't learned
Call Pet
yet. He keeps forgetting to visit his class trainer between movies.
man, what a noob.

Wouldn't Gandalf be fire? I'm sure he says somewhere he specallises in fire and light spells. Like making fireworks.
That's correct. Gandalf was the bearer of Narya, the Elven Ring of Fire, and the wielder of the flame of Anor. ;)

He respecced to arcane after the wipe in Moria, and then was surprisingly cool when the raid leader decided to call the raid rather than making another attempt after he had already paid the respec cost.

The "healing hands" thing was an herb (Kingsfoil, as I recall) that only the king of Gondor could pick (forget the reasons, I think I' due for a trilogy re-read), not any special power of Aragorn himself, so he'd be closest to an Arms Warrior with Herbalism/Alchemy (what a nub rite?) and a funky trinket to do an Army of the Dead with ghosts (the ghost army's oath). Gimili would be Arms/Fury, Boromir is definitely Prot. Elrond would be closest to a Holy Priest (can heal, etc), Gandalf really fits nothing since he's a demigod so can pretty much do what he wants but Fire Mage is the closest. All the hobbits are, naturally, rouges of some kind but I agree that Sam could better fit a Warrior. Pippin too, since when he swears loyalty to Gondor he uses plate/sword but he's not that good at it.
Obviously they don't really translate over (that would be in LOTRO lol)

Aragorn doesn't have a single ounce of a paladin, because he never uses any "holy skill" he doesn't have any real magic be it divine or otherwise.
Aragorn
: Despite how the movie tries to characterize him, aragorn is a ranger, and the best combo that would suit him would be a survival hunter with a bit of arms warrior (since he fights at range and at melee)
Boromir
: is ALLWAYS with his shield, so why is everyone trying to say he's an arms warrior? he's prot plain and simple.
Gimli
: is an intresting case. because you can see him both dualwielding in some fights, and using a 2hand in others.
so he's dualspec, arms and fury warrior (though his attitude fits more into the roaring rage of a fury warrior, than the discipline of an arms warrior)
Frodo and Sam
are both sub-rogues, as they never charge straight in, they sneak arround the entire movie.
Merry
: also a sub-rogue, considering he uses an Ambush crit to kill the Witch King of Agmar.
Gandalf
: as patty put it is a fire mage, no other option there.
Legolas
: everyone agrees that this guy is a MM hunter.
Pippin
: he "tried" to be a prot warrior but he's not good at it, he wore the plate, the sword, and shield but he did't really protected anyone. Still, kudos for trying xD.
Saruman
: torn between Destro lock and Demo lock (I know he doesn't summon the urukai, he creates them, but it's as close as summoning as LOTR gets)
Sauron
: DK
Glorfindel
: Prot paladin.
Elrond
: either holy paladin (he wore plate armor) or Holy priest. can't decide wich.
This movie is made almost entirely of warriors :P
Theoeden
: Prot warrior.
Eowin
: prot warrior (thecnically called "shield maiden of rohan")
Eomer
: Arms warrior (loves to use polearms)
Grima
: Sub-rogue (he ends up backstabbing Saruman)
Faramir
: Survival Hunter. (and how!!! he survived an orcish volley of arrows, and nearly being incinerated :P this guy really knows how to survive)
Gollum
: Sub-rogue.
Galadriel:
humm how does one qualify a demi-goddess with enough power to almost rival sauron? Holy priest? let's go with Holy priest.
and those are all I can think of.

One of them, and the Rangers are what Survival Hunters are based on.
