I did all the low level quests on my 80 for two reasons - to experience the lore, and also to raise my quest count. I already had "The Seeker" before the shattering.

For the rep farmers, go buy a
tabard
and just grind heroics. Took me less than 30 heroics to get exalted.

I have been doing the low level quests myself, on my main. There are a couple of reasons:
1) To see all the new content- I already had my Loremaster achievement when everything switched over, and I wanted to see what had changed and what had stayed the same.
2) Achievements- for people concerned with achievements and achievement points, finishing the quests in each low level zone counts as one achievement. It's an easy way for me to push for my 9000, especially considering I lost a couple hundred points in the last few patches.
3) Vanity items- there are a lot of vanity items that come from low level quests and areas. I have already gotten the 4 vanity pets, the Rainbow Generator trinket and discovered I could now buy a rod in Timbermaw Hold that lets me change into a Furbolg (almost 100% sure it wasn't there when I originally ground out exalted with them). I'm sure there will be plenty of others, too.
4) Low level quests might not be the greatest way to grind rep for the alliance or horde cities, now that there are tabards, but some factions that were hard to earn rep with had their quests reset, and doing them again is a big boost for people going for exalted with obscure factions. I got have gotten big rep boosts for Thorium Brotherhood and all of the Goblin factions, and have only completed a couple of zones.

To see the new quest lines.
I think that's a major reason. With the 80+ quests still locked away, and all that new lower-level content out there, it's hard to resist checking it out - and with the new races imminent, most people will be holding off on starting new characters since they'll be planning on making Worgen or Goblin alts. So the way to see the new content just for now is to play it with your current characters, even if they're already levelled to 80.

It was originally an Alliance only quest item that was not supposed to persist after completing the quest. Now it is a purchasable vanity item for anyone with Timbermaw - Exalted.
Dartol's Rod
is not
Stave of Fur and Claw
.

To see the new quest lines.
That's it in one, but its better experienced while levelling a new character in all honestly.
I dunno, I went back and did Ashzara on my DK, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. it's not like I lose out on anything by being too powerful, I'm working through Southern STV on my druid right now, I'm 25 quests in and all the quests I have for the zone are already green.

We have a certain guild member who really gets a kick out of questing. Many lols have been had in gchat since the patch, with this person linking humourous items with flavour text.

just wanted to know if I missed something. I have a few 80's and a few week or so ago created a new toon, and I have constantly been finding myself struggling to finish quests because every 80 on my server seems to be doing the low quests also.
Damn, that is funny :) The entire world changes from the geography to about 75% of all classic quests, and there is a question as to why people are redoing them? :)
I am FIENDING to get into those quests, but I want all the quest and achievement xp to hit my guild when 12/7 comes and I can double dip. Experiencing quests, making gold, seeing the new advanced lore and graphics, coupled with earning guild experience and reputation within it.
Yeah..... I CANNOT WAIT.

Quest and achievement junkies now have something to do after a long lull in the game.
Personally I rolled a new toon, so I could experience the content at the appropriate level rather than just steamroll it on an 80. I'll go back to the stuff eventually on my main, but I have actually made a point to avoid the redone zones on my 80's, so as not to spoil it. So far I went Gnome starting zone > Loch Mod > Wetlands > Arathi > Hinterlands > and now Western Plague. Once I get to about 60 I'll probably roll a human toon and go Elwynn > Westfall > Redridge > Duskwood...
Hell, I'm having so much fun leveling my gnome rogue right now, I'm not even in a huge hurry for Cata anymore.

the question is so ovious and self-evident I don't even see why the hell are you asking.
people are doing the new quests because they are (duh)
NEW
vainilla quests were a royal magnanimus PAIN IN THE ASS, but the new quests are both fun, cool, and organized, and more importantly, add fresh lore to the game. Some people wish to see these quests from the POV that they were intended for, with a lowbie toon, others don't wanna bother and just wish to steamroll it with their mains.
simple diference on taste.
I'm doing them on a lowbie toon, but that's because I had planned to level a ton of alts, and if I do these quests with my lvl 80 main, it will feel less epic when I doit on my alts.

It's annoying me. I'm trying to level my dwarf shaman, and I have people who have the nerve to call me out on "stealing
their
quest mobs", and yelling at me that I'm ruining their questing.
I'm like: "I'm leveling idiots. I need the quests. You want lore master. Too bad. I'm going to tap everyone I can if I need them."

80's blow through the lowbie zones so quickly, it doesn't really interfere with my alt-questing.
But, (and this I reallllly want to put in caps, but won't), would they please please please leave the rare mobs alone. They drop nothing of value to an 80, but they give insane xp to an alt now.
