Like the settlers went axe murderer on the natives in America?
Seriously, those people were $&%^'ed up.How can you specifically single out the Israelites for genocide; when there are countless other occurances of people going axe murderer? After all, these are the people who cemented many of the beliefs you have faith in, if I am correct in assuming/recalling that you're a Christian.

The British ones? Yeah.
How can you specifically single out the Israelites for genocide; when there are countless other occurances of people going axe murderer?
Because the Israelites did it to many nations. And becuase they came up in context. So forgive me if I don't randomly pull up a random country and call them axe murderers. /rolls eyes. I picked them because they were already being discussed.
After all, these are the people who cemented many of the beliefs you have faith in, if I am correct in assuming/recalling that you're a Christian.
About a third of it, yes, but in the end, Judaism =/= Christian

And I know why you left Vent... anyone with a forehead would know why (that's everyone). I was testing your patience and also how long it would take for your beliefs to begin to crumble atop their own non-sequitour doctrine and ridiculous scripture. And also, I managed to do it without ever once calling you or your beliefs "stupid".
I left because you wouldn't &*!@ing leave me alone. I came on intending to have fun with people from Wowhead, only to have you go "I have some more questions."
I asked you to stop, because I didn't want to discuss my beliefs with you, because your main point seemed to be trying to prove me wrong. You wanted to "Know about my beliefs," which generally involved asking questions about how I "knew" god to be in existence, etc.
It got really old, really fast. And you never stopped. That is why I left vent, not because you think you have deconverted me.
And, again, I won't argue with you. The purpose of this thread was to answer HiVolt's question, with the added decree I invite absolutely everyone with an opinion on the subject to comment, even if they only wish to answer the secondary question. I cannot stress enough that I am in no way looking to offend someone with this topic, or attack religious faith- I'm only curious as to what religious people really think on the matter.
Granted, you aren't HiVolt and you aren't bonded by it, but as it is I have answered his question and I won't take crap from you.

Don't you claim knowledge that god exists? Isn't it part of your beliefs? Didn't I ask you all sorts of questions about your beliefs, too? Isn't knowing whether or not god exists kinda vital knowledge? All you proved was that you didn't really know, but you didn't want to accept that.
Nobody knows for a fact that God exists. I believe very strongly that He exists, but no, I do not know for a fact.
Questions are insulting to religious people.
It wasn't the questions, it was the sheer amount of them, without anything else. Anyone would get annoyed after being interrogated every day.
I only expected you to get really frustrated and bored. I got what I expected.
So... your purpose was to troll me. Why? What have I done to you that made you do that? Or was it just sheer maliciousness?

I was hoping you wouldn't do what I expected you to.
Which was get annoyed by endless questions? Only an incredibly patient person would have put up with that, and I am not one of them.
It's these kinds of questions you should be asking yourself everyday. Otherwise, you're just another sheep.
I ask myself these questions every day, often spending a large amount of time on them. I didn't need them from you.
I have to put up with barrages of questions like that almost every day for being atheist, too... and I'm expected to listen and answer every one of them or I'm a close-minded person.
I get my religion questioned enough. I got pissed off because, to me, you just seemed to be another snobbish atheist who wouldn't leave me alone. I'm sorry you get questioned every day, but I go through this a lot. You picked the wrong person to try to send this message to, because I already had the message.
And don't assume I don't do the same for my own beliefs... but every which way I look at it I'm more assured that god doesn't exist.
And every time I look at myself, I am more convinced that God doesn't exist.
Again, I'm sorry that you get questioned all the time, but don't forget that I know what it is like. Mormons are pretty much one of the most persecuted, misunderstood sect of Christianity that exists. I get crap a lot. You didn't need to fling any more on the pile.

C.S. Lewis Quotes – Atheism
"Atheism turns out to be too simple. If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning. . ." – Mere Christianity
Atheism makes no assumption of meaninglessness. That would be nihilism. I don't appreciate uneducated claims on any subject, regardless of who makes them.
Also, your post reeks of conversion tactics. You may not be trying to(or at least you want to seem like you're not trying to), as you've not directly addressed anyone. But, you're also not on topic and you invite others to read what clearly contains religious propaganda.
Also, Funden, Ivokk, come on guys. Take it to the RB or vent if you want to talk about this, it's derailing the thread.

Sorry HiVolt. I'm done with Ivokk, so from here on out it'll be on-topic, assuming I have anything else to say of course.

Before I say this, I WILL say that I do have strong feelings towards religion, but I usually don't take them out on people in such a way. Many of them are convinced by coincidences (see: Da Vinci Code) or were simply taught the religion repeatedly to a point of stiff obedience. The bolded part of Funden's quote made me lose all respect for him.
Know the story before passing judgment.
A rundown. I decided to use the Wowhead vent channel again after a period of months. The first day I came on, I got involved in a religious conversation. That was fine with me, because it was a one time thing.
So I logged on the next day, to immediately start being interrogated. Same thing went on for a few days before I finally left. Ivokk did it to show how hard it was to be atheist, because he's always being questioned. He forgot that I'm Mormon, and as such I am also questioned and insulted almost daily (did I mention today somebody called me a pedophile cultist? Apparently Mormonism = FLDS, and I'm also a polygamist /rolls eyes).
So, as it is, don't just make random judgments without actually knowing the story.
(Sorry HiVolt. I had to defend my name.)
