Blizzard set up WoW to be played by as many people as possible, whether they have PoS machines or the ultimate high end uber leet systems. I could care less if the graphics were from the NES era as long as the game itself draws you in and keeps you there.
Look at something like Avatar: It sure was pretty to look at....but the story and acting was complete crap, and dozens of movies have done the story much better (hell, Ferngully did it better).
Without a good story or intriguing game place, even if the game looked like living art, it would suck.

The graphics aren't that good, compared to some games. I'm quite happy they aren't. Resources are better spent on gameplay and even lore than on graphics.

You're both right. Gameplay matters as do graphics, in regards to games that are within the last 10-20 years or so.
In regards to WoW?
They're dated. Not bad.
Game is six years old now without a major graphic upgrade beyond water texture.

I play games until I'm bored of them. Games being pretty doesn't affect how long they hold my attention.

Also, you seem to be missing one more thing. Unless you've hooked your rig up to a plasma TV, Graphics on Ultra look pretty damn good to me. My monitor's about 20" across, and I play on medium graphics (until more parts come in), and in some of the new zones I've panned around and been awestruck. Sure it's gonna look poor on
poor
graphics settings.
Furthermore, the video is kind of a poor representation, considering those are graphics that are upwards 5 years old.
