Warlock AoE is no worse off than any other class's AoE.

No offence, but judging by your signature I don't think you know the fight so your opinion is going to be biased, in my opinion
That doesn't even make a damn bit of sense...

I did 600k damage with Rain of Fire on our Magmaw kill. I played as Destro to abuse the Bane of havoc mechanics as our hunter and mage were more than capable of burning the adds. We had five sets of adds from what I can gather from world of logs. I also casted shadowflame/shadowfury and single targeted a few of the adds, but I'd assume I didn't do much more than 700-800k damage to the adds whereas our mage did 1.2million with blizzard alone. The utility of the glyphed shadowflame along with the shadowfury stun made me more than valuable to fill a raid spot.
On one of our failed attempts I did 600k damage on a single wave of adds as Demonology. It is very difficult to hellfire the adds without them infecting you though so I decided to switch back to destro. The adds are only supposed to jump 5 yards, but in practice they jump a lot farther than that. Felstorm does a huge amount of damage in itself though so I can't see how you're riding the bottom of the wave.
