I switch my spec around every day or two, and I'm thinking of going with something like this:
31/10/0
I only shield the tank, so Soul Warding is a waste. I don't want to reduce Weakened Soul to the point where I'm applying shields faster than Rapture procs, so Strength of Soul seems like a waste as well.
Not sure if Improved Renew or 2/3 Darkness would be better. I like the extra haste, but the old saying "haste makes waste" definitely applies to our mana at this point. That said, getting enough haste to squeeze an extra tick out of Renew would make it a much more efficient spell.
Glyphs of choice at the moment, but also subject to change are:
PoH, Renew, Penance
Panik8, I wish you were playing right now. Your advice would carry a lot more weight and I'd have someone to bounce ideas off of :)

Thanks Sinespe :)
What was the logic behind Renew not being worth it, though?
I find that in 5-mans, keeping Renew on the tank can make a huge difference. This is especially true during fights that employ some kind of fear or incapacitate mechanic or that requires a lot of movement and I'm unable to cast anything. With a full stack of grace, Twin Disciplines, Improved Renew and the Glyph, it heals for about 4200 per tick. And if it crits then that's about an extra 2000 added on to Divine Aegis.
Perhaps I'll keep the glyph for now and just not spec for Improved Renew. Twin Disciplines, the glyph, and a full stack of Grace should be enough of a buff. I'll drop those 2 points and put them into Darkness for now and see how that works out.
I guess 1 point in Strength of Soul would be nice, to be able to bring Weakened Soul's duration in line with Rapture's internal cooldown.
Proposed build:
31/8/2

I just finally healed my first heroic tonight, and things went better than I had anticipated in a random PuG. I came in prepared, being satisfied with my gear level, stat allocation, and having seen the videos for the dungeon (luckily).
With the Atonement range buff tonight to 15 yards, I found healing the group much easier. Those who weren't in range of the tank were kept up with Renew or by bounces of Prayer of Mending, which was kept on cooldown. If there were anticipated phases of high damage I would pop Power Infusion and Archangel, followed by a couple of Glyphed PoH's and a liberal coating of Heals and Greater Heals.
I find that I can fit 3 Smites and a couple of instants between Penance cooldowns, due to Train of Thought. 1 point in Strength of Soul allows me to speed up my usage of PW:S on the tank to the point that I don't overlap my Rapture ICD's. I don't spam Heal on the tank enough for that to happen. I make a point to use Archangel as much as possible.
Being an enchanter, I already had a slight advantage due to most of my gear being enchanted while leveling the skill. I practiced a lot of normal-mode dungeons until I was suited mostly in 333's with a couple of 346's and the Guardians of Hyjal exalted belt.
I tried to collect gear that had Spirit on it, and reforged for it otherwise, then reforged everything else to keep my Haste, Crit and Mastery ratings relatively equal, with a slight nod to Haste. I'm finding myself to be far more effective when my secondary stats are balanced.

I just hit 85 yesterday on my priest. I'm Disc specced, and I find that I run out of mana too often. Not usually in the middle of boss fights, but just about every pull I have to drink. My party members suggested I stop using Flash Heal and switch to Greater Heal, so I did, and things went a little better, but what I want to know is this: Are Disc priests "supposed" to be using Flash Heal still as their main heal, or has Blizz switched us to Heal or Greater Heal?
Right now I heal using Healbot (it works, and it's simple), so I use my mouse. At the moment, I have left-click assigned to my main heal (whether it be Flash or Greater or whatever), middle button assigned to PW:S, Right assigned to Penance, and then shift-modifies them to Pain Suppression, Power Infusion, and Prayer of Mending, for Left, Middle, and Right specifically. As it stands, I use my Left-click/Main Heal for normal healing and Right-click/Penance for my "Oh Sh*t! Big heal!" moments. Am I "supposed" to be using all three heals (FH, H, and GH, that is) in
addition
to Penance, PW:S, PS, and Prayer of Mending, or is there a simpler way?
Basically, what does Blizzard want me to do as a Disc priest?

can anyone test it and check if Grace now effects the attonement heal?
@Drakina: Tested it yesterday. Atonement is still not being affected by Grace. As a test, I was hitting a test dummy with an NPC nearby who was conveniently receiving my Atonement heals. Once I ramped up to 5 stacks of Evangelism, Smite was hitting for average 8200 and Atonement was healing for 8700. This is still much better than the 1:1 ratio that it was previously healing for, but it's only a 6% jump due to
Twin Disciplines
. I then cast Penance on the NPC to give him 3 stacks of Grace and kept Smiting. Still only healed for 8700.
I actually find it odd that Twin Disciplines is not only increasing Smite's damage, but then being added on again for an extra 6% on Atonement, yet Grace has no effect. Kind of a bummer actually.
Basically, what does Blizzard want me to do as a Disc priest?
@Skreeran: drop Flash Heal, it's only for emergencies now. Basically as Disc you should be using PW:S only on the tank, or on someone you know
for sure
is going to take enough damage to warrant its usage. Penance the tank on cooldown to keep Grace stacked up.
If you're Archangel/Atonement specced, Smiting provides incredible HPS and pretty decent HPM. Train of Thought makes your Smite reduce the cooldown on Penance. Macro Inner Focus to Greater Heal and use that instead of Flash Heal when someone needs a big heal but you have a couple of seconds for it to land. Don't exclusively use Smite, though. Throw in some Heals every so often to save mana and reduce Weakened Soul's duration (1 point in Strength of Soul seems optimal for Rapture procs). Cast Renew on the tank when you have Borrowed Time and you'll squeeze an extra tick out of it, making it more efficient and it allows you more time to line up those long casts of Heal or Greater Heal.
Basically I'll go PW:S -> Penance -> ProM -> hastened Renew -> hastened Heal -> Smite x3 -> Penance -> Smite x2 -> repeat.
Pop Archangel and/or Power Infusion and throw some PoH's when the group is taking heavy damage or when you want to just switch to Heal / Greater Heal for better efficiency. Atonement now gains from Archangel's 15% buff so it's not a terrible idea to start building up your Evangelism stacks while you still have the buff.
Aside from those simple tips, I think you just need some practice. I tweaked my talent spec every day (sometimes twice a day) until I found synergy and discovered an efficient method of healing. Find yours. Just bear in mind that Heal and Penance are our most cost-effective healing spells, with Smite providing more HPS than Heal but will drain you faster so use it wisely (mainly for Evangelism and resetting Penance's cooldown).

My talents really need to be optimized as well. I kinda just filled it in as I went after 4.0.3 hit and I started level leveling. Looking at it now, there are a few that I missed that I should've put point into, and a few that I have that I don't need.
I've also found that I mainly only have a mana problem between pulls in dungeons like Vortex Pinnacle where there aren't many humanoids. Being undead, I can usually cannibalize corpses for more mana between pulls, rather than spending a lot of time drinking. I think after fixing my talents and getting into a synergy, I shouldn't have as many problems. Thanks for the tips. ;)
Edit: So I've put together
this build
, and I have 3 points left. Should I put them into Mental Agility for cheaper Shields, Buffs, and Prayer of Mendings (this is what I have now, but it's looking less attractive the longer I look at it), Divine Fury for quicker Smites and heals, or Veiled Shadows for more frequent Shadowfiends (and that reduction on Fade is nice too, even if it's a little superfluous with the glyph)?

I hear that a lot of people complain that even though the shields are good, we can't heal ourselves or others as efficiently as before.
I can tell you that the shields are nominal at best. On several bosses and trash pulls, they only last about a second. Nevertheless, I still have fun with the spec, so I still play it.

I would put them in Divine Fury. Lower cast time = love.
