I just tried to heal my first heroic and failed miserably, I'm trying to figure out why.
I've been healing regular 5 mans as I've been leveling up and been very successful by casting holy light constantly, holy shock and judgment when off cooldown, word of glory when at 3 holy power and divine light when necessary.
My first heroic the tank would go from about 90% to 30% in an instant, word of glory holy shock divine light would bring him up to about 75%, then bam down to 10%, word of glory divine light then dead.
Am I doing something wrong? Is my gear or spec the problem?

Possibly a lot going on, can you answer some more questions?
Was he going down fast on trash pulls? Which dungeon?
Which forms of CC were available? Which ones were being used?
Was the team focused on killing the most threatening, non-CC'ed opponents first? Did you HoJ it?
Was the tank using his (or her) defensive auras (Blood Presence, Defensive Stance, Bear Form, Righteous Fury... I know it sounds silly, but it's not impossible to have a braindead tank in your dungeon)? Was the tank chaining defensive abilities and trinkets?
Were you chaining trinkets/wings/hand of sacrifice to keep the tank up?
Were you pre-casting appropriately sized heals in anticipation of the incoming damage?
You don't necessarily need to answer all these questions, I'm most trying to tell you that you can probably answer this question yourself by walking through those questions.
Frankly, when it comes to heroics, gear doesn't mean a whole lot. At this point in the xpac, skill is genuinely what sets players apart.

We didn't even make it to any bosses, he was going down real fast on trash pulls.
No CC was being used there was a rogue but the tank told him not to sap.
Not sure I was just focused on trying to keep people alive.
Yeah he was in bear form.
I was using all my cooldowns except hand of sacrifice.
At first I was casting holy light anytime I didnt need to cast something else, but the tank was just taking so much damage and we kept wiping so I switched to near constant divine light and he still died before I even had a chance to go oom.

The first thing you need to learn about Heroic dungeons is: You will go OOM healing and curing everyone.
Do not heal and cure everyone.
I'm not saying that you should let players die if you can avoid it but blowing all of your mana in 30 seconds for a 2 minute fight really didn't save anyone.
Once you learn how to prioritize and pick heal targets, you'll accept that winning fights with players at 30% health is fine.

Yeap. Keeping the tank with only HL won't happen in heroic if you're in a PuG with no CC. The tank was a total moron, but FIonnette was right on most point :
1) Don't try to top out everyone, juste make sure they have enough health to survive the next hit and have a little cushion in case something happen.
2) Dont cleanse EVERYTHING. You'll have to read debuff and figure it out, but I only dispel those I know wich will be a pita to heal trough (healing reduced, heavy damage poison or something like that). Cleanse cost a lot of mana now, and removing 3 stack of a debuff only hitting for 1k / 5 second is just useless.
3) Usually, I try to tell my group to stay stacked (if it's a PuG, my guild know I want this :P) if the fight dont require us to be spread apart so I can LoD and Holy Radiance at maximum effiency.
