Are Blizzard idiots or just intentionally stupid?

Because AoE isn't necessarily king anymore. You can't just faceroll content, you actually have to know how to play.
Instead of buffing rogues with 1 or 2 decent aoe abilities, blizzard decides to super-buff one of the already strongest AOE classes: Warlocks.
Last I heard Warlocks got a flat 12% damage nerf. Maybe you're just really #$%^ty at rogues.

Enjoy dying in the Heroics as you try AoE the trash and it eats you.

Your question is kind of loaded.
Also...
With the felguard being more powerful than some arms-warriors
I almost $%^& a brick laughing. Thanks for that.

I fail to see that point of this thread.
1) OP knows nothing.
2) Blizzard has changed cata content to be less-AOE dependent. Even normal Cata dungeons without CC is difficult.
3) Rogues have
Blade Flurry
. It is very useful.
4) Think you can do better than Blizzard? Make a better MMO with balanced classes KGO.

Meh.
AoE is not king any more, welcome to Cataclysm.
If you want to AoE faceroll your way through the new dungeons on heroics, by all means... enjoy pissing off the Mage who sheeped, the Rogue who sapped, and the tank who now has to run around getting agro on 2 more mobs because you're only concerned with how much DPS you can pump out while standing in the fire.
Rogues (and my favorite, Enhancement Shaman) are excellent sources of single target DPS, with enough AoE abilities to get by on large trash pulls if necessary.

I play a Rogue, and yes I will agree Fan of Knives is quite a bit underpowered, but that's comparing it to other AoE's. I've barely touched it at all since Cataclysm came out, so it really does not effect me too much. I suppose it'd be nice to receive a buff to it for solo questing, but there's really no point to it for dungeons.
The nerf they gave it was pretty painful, and the 800 damage per hit with my Fan on Knives is awful, but I can live with my 20k Envenom crits.

Meh, if I was going to complain about a class losing it's AoE I'd look closer at hunters, sure they have a nice AoE ability, but you can only use it about 3 times before you run out of focus -.-
Otherwise, AoE is no longer king, so (non-tank) classes/specs having crappy aoe isn't really a big deal for now. Remains to be seen how things pan out as people begin to overgear the hcs and begin to try to faceroll again.
Also, the 12% nerf to lock damage was to the base damage of their spells, it wasn't that big of a deal :P

Two things:
1. Please stop living in the past. I know it's hard to believe, but AoE is now only for certain packs, and is no longer the king of all attacks. In Cataclysm, you need something called "co-ordination" and "precision" in order to go anywhere in terms of raid or even heroic content.
2. Please, cry me a river; hunters have it worse. Ever tried using the new Multi-Shot? It does the same damage as Fan of Knives, but you have to be at range AND it's a cone, so there's no guarantee it'll hit everything in a spread-out pack.

Actually, I dont play rogue, I just pity how bad they have become. With my felguard around I dont even have to worry about getting ganked. Stun+WW=Dead rogue.
So...you're complaining that a class you don't play isn't as good as the one you do play. Methinks you really play a rogue and are annoyed with locks, and this is just a veiled QQ.
Otherwise, once again, AoE matters not. Do you get it? IT DOESN'T MATTER. AoE is
nothing
.

Everyone knows that in 95% of the game content (questing and raiding), AOE is king.
Actually, it seems you missed the memo -- AoE is
dead
. Or, at least, Blizzard is in the process of killing it as much as they can.

Destruction
Chaos Bolt damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
Conflagrate damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
Shadowburn damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
Yes, clearly, the buff guys have been working overtime on this class.
Increasing AOE damage is hardly an improvement given how rarely you use it in dungeons now.
I play warlock myself and the reason that I write this is that playing my demo-lock has actually become boring. I dont even have to try to top the dps lists.
Try topping the competency lists, then.
With the felguard being more powerful than some arms-warriors
Aha. Ahahahahaha. You really had me going until here.
all I have to do is really Rain of Fire and Whirlwind whenever it's up to top the dps.
Glad to know your priorities are straight.
No one cares about your e-peen number anymore. They care about finishing. AOE = wipe now.
With months of beta testing, I just dont understand how blizzard could miss this.
They missed nothing. You did.

To be honest, thats on par with the Rogues and Fan of Knives.
When playing mine, I have enough energy to do it twice, wait a second, and then once more before Tricks of the Trade wears off.
That being said: I don't worry about it on either my Hunter or my Rogue (though they're both 80 still, so my opinion is old and outdated), as I can pump out enough single target DPS to satisfy my ego (and hopefully make the other DPS perk up and think "^&*!, I don't wanna be out done by a huntard!"... ignorant bastards).
